Job Description

Imagine a future where your expertise keeps high-voltage transmission assets operating safely and reliably, enabling renewable energy to reach millions of homes and businesses.

Join us in this role where you’ll provide specialist high-voltage support across our nearshore transmission assets, with a strong focus on safe switching, operational readiness, and compliance with Ørsted Electrical Safety Rules. You’ll help plan and deliver HV activities up to 400 kV, support colleagues and contractors, and contribute to reliable operations through clear technical guidance and a safety-first mindset.

Welcome to Nearshore Transmission & HV
You’ll be part of the Nearshore Transmission & HV Team where you, together with your colleagues, will operate, maintain, and improve high-voltage networks supporting offshore wind assets. The role is primarily office-based with occasional site working, giving you the space to plan effectively while staying close to operational delivery when projects need it.

As a team, we put safety first, share knowledge openly, and work together to solve complex technical challenges that keep renewable energy moving.

You’ll play an important role in:

  • providing specialist HV support for planned and reactive work across nearshore transmission assets

  • carrying out, reviewing, and supporting switching activities on high-voltage equipment up to 400 kV

  • preparing, checking, and approving switching schedules, safety documentation, work procedures, and technical instructions

  • supervising and supporting internal colleagues, contractors, and working parties involved in HV activities

  • contributing to safe, compliant, and reliable operations in line with Ørsted Electrical Safety Rules and grid requirements

  • sharing knowledge and helping colleagues develop their HV capability through guidance, coaching, and practical support.

To succeed in the role, you:

  • have senior authorised person experience at 400 kV, or comparable high-voltage authorisation with strong transferable experience

  • have a technical qualification in electrical engineering, high-voltage engineering, or equivalent experience

  • have experience working with transmission, generation, offshore wind, renewable energy, or similar safety-critical HV environments

  • understand HV switching, safety documentation, isolation, earthing, and safe systems of work

  • take a structured, safety-focused approach to technical problem-solving and operational delivery

  • communicate clearly with colleagues, contractors, and stakeholders, and enjoy supporting others to work safely and effectively.

Maybe you’ve read the above and can see you have some transferable skills, even though they don’t quite match all the points. If you think you can bring something to the team, we still encourage you to apply.

About Ørsted

Ørsted is the global leader in offshore wind power and is one of the largest renewable energy companies in the world.

Within a decade, we transformed from being one of Europe’s most fossil fuel-intensive utilities to being ranked as one of the most sustainable energy companies in the world. Today, we’re guided by a clear vision: to create a world that runs entirely on green energy.

We provide countries, companies, and communities with sustainable, reliable, and cost-competitive energy solutions, including offshore and onshore wind, solar, renewable hydrogen, and energy storage. We built the world’s first offshore wind farm back in 1991, and with over 2,000 turbines at sea, we’ve installed more offshore wind capacity than anyone else. In total, we own or operate over 17 GW of renewable energy capacity across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.

We know that to build renewable energy at pace and scale, we must build it right. We commit to developing and operating our assets in harmony with nature and in line with the need for science-based climate action. We prioritise integrity and safety in our operations, and we respect the human rights and diverse values of every employee and stakeholder.

As a global renewable energy leader, we leverage the curiosity and passion of our people to innovate and take new or existing technologies to scale, collaborating with governments, suppliers, and our industry partners to make green energy solutions a reality.
