This role will supervise and mentor clinical informatics resources, coordinate site-facing support, analyze clinical information system issues, develop recommendations, and guide execution of tasks that help VA facilities maintain safe and effective clinical operations during modernization.

The ideal candidate is a senior Health Informatics Specialist / Clinical Applications Coordinator with extensive VistA/CPRS, clinical applications, data analysis, and VHA stakeholder engagement experience.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead clinical informatics support for VA facilities transitioning from VistA/CPRS to Oracle Health/Cerner, including planning, readiness, cutover, and post-transition support activities.
  • Supervise, coordinate, and mentor Health Informatics Specialists, Clinical Application Coordinators, and other clinical informatics SMEs.
  • Support CPRS Transition Plan activities, readiness tracking, field support requests, issue resolution, and clinical applications configuration guidance.
  • Provide expert VistA/CPRS support for Clinical Reminders, order menus, notifications, consults, notes, alerts, templates, reports, and related clinical applications.
  • Perform program and data analysis using VistA FileMan, VSSC, Pyramid Analytics, BISL reports, Excel, Power BI, or similar tools to inform operational recommendations.

  • Develop and review SOPs, operational guides, training materials, scorecards, dashboards, request logs, FAQs, SharePoint resources, and other field-facing artifacts.
  • Identify risks to clinical operations, data migration, readiness, and user adoption; recommend practical mitigation strategies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in health informatics, healthcare administration, nursing, information systems, public health, or related field; additional specialized experience may be considered in lieu of degree when contractually permissible.
  • 8+ years of clinical informatics, health systems, clinical applications, or EHR support experience; 15+ years preferred for KP alignment.
  • Experience supporting enterprise clinical information systems that enable high-quality, efficient, and safe patient care.
  • Experience leading or participating in clinical process evaluation, clinical decision support, EHR/order-entry system implementation, management, evaluation, or continuous improvement.
  • Hands-on experience with VistA/CPRS and VA clinical applications; HIS/CAC experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing or mentoring others in a clinical informatics or healthcare operations environment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.

Desired Qualifications

  • 20+ years of VA/VHA clinical informatics, HIS/CAC, or clinical applications experience.
  • Experience supporting HITT, IRCP, CIOC, HI CoP, EHRM, Clinical Reminders, VistA/CPRS education/training, or facility cutover support.
  • Experience developing site-specific transition plans, readiness scorecards, data quality checks, and field support processes.
  • Knowledge of VA facility operations, VHA communications norms, clinical workflows, and patient safety considerations.
  • Clinical background, coding certification, nursing, allied health, informatics certification, or related credential.
  • Strong client-facing communication, facilitation, training, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
