Job Description

The Lead House Person supports Hotel Housekeeping operations by maintaining clean and organized hallways, storage areas, and service spaces in accordance with company policies and 4-Star/4-Diamond standards. This role assists Room Attendants with supplies and linen management, interacts professionally with guests, and serves as the acting supervisor in the absence of housekeeping management. The Lead House Person ensures smooth daily operations and upholds a high standard of guest service and cleanliness throughout the resort.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Cleans assigned hallways, service areas, and storage rooms according to established training and cleanliness standards.
  • Cleans assigned guest rooms thoroughly and efficiently according to department procedures and quality standards.
  • Assists Room Attendants by stocking housekeeping carts, delivering supplies, and removing soiled linens.
  • Bags and stages soiled linens for laundry pickup and restocks clean linen in designated areas.
  • Ensures compliance with 4-Star/4-Diamond quality expectations in all areas of responsibility.
  • Prepares supply carts before and after shifts and ensures they are fully stocked for the next shift.
  • Uses only approved cleaning chemicals, tools, and techniques in a safe and effective manner.
  • Acts as the shift lead, supporting the housekeeping team and communicating with supervisors and management.
  • Responds to guest inquiries with professionalism and courtesy.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Acts as supervisor in the absence of the Housekeeping Supervisor or other management.
  • Provides direction to House Persons and Room Attendants as needed to support efficient workflow.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally and courteously with guests and team members.
  • Ability to lead by example, maintain professionalism, and promote teamwork.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to upholding company cleanliness and service standards.
  • High regard for guest service and team member relations.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in housekeeping, custodial, or environmental services work.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a lead, trainer, or supervisory capacity within housekeeping or hospitality operations.
  • Strong knowledge of cleaning standards, sanitation practices, and safe use of chemicals and equipment.
  • Ability to assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide support to housekeeping staff.
  • Experience maintaining supply inventories and ensuring efficient distribution of linens, tools, and equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to train, coach, and guide staff to ensure consistency and quality in cleaning services.
  • Prior experience in a hotel, resort, or large-scale hospitality environment strongly preferred.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:

Must have successfully completed a background check and obtained a gaming license issued by the Morongo Gaming Agency, as required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Must be able to read and interpret documents in English, such as instructions, guidelines, policies, and procedures. Must also be able to communicate clearly and effectively with team members, management, and guests.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Communication Skills: Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively in person, by radio, or phone with team members, supervisors, and other departments to coordinate housekeeping support and respond to requests.
  • Lifting and Carrying: Frequently lifts, pushes, and pulls linen carts, furniture, mattresses, and supply loads weighing up to 50 pounds; occasional team lifting of heavier items required.
  • Manual Dexterity: Regular use of hands for operating housekeeping equipment, handling cleaning tools, restocking supplies, completing inspection forms, and performing light maintenance duties.
  • Mobility: Constantly moves throughout hotel property, including guest floors, hallways, and back-of-house areas; includes prolonged walking, standing, bending, stooping, and climbing stairs or ladders as needed.
  • Stationary Work: Occasionally remains in a fixed position to complete paperwork, organize supply closets, or monitor staff activity.
  • Tool Operation: Frequent use of housekeeping carts, vacuums, dollies, cleaning equipment, radios, and basic tools; occasional use of computers or handheld devices for reporting and communication.
  • Visual Acuity: Requires close vision to inspect rooms, monitor supply levels, identify maintenance issues, and ensure work standards are met.
  • Working Conditions: Works in all areas of the hotel including guest rooms, public spaces, and service corridors with exposure to cleaning chemicals, variable temperatures, heavy equipment, moderate to high noise levels, and a smoking environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This is a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires the ability to adapt and perform under pressure. The casino operates with moderate to loud noise levels and is a smoking environment, requiring team members to work comfortably in these conditions. Frequent use of stairs and elevators. Must have a comfort level for working in a multi-floor tower.

WORKING HOURS:

Morongo Casino Resort & Spa operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; therefore, flexibility in scheduling is essential. Team members must be available to work shifts that may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. Schedules are subject to change based on business needs and may include overtime, as well as work on both weekdays and weekends.
