In this role, you'll:

  • Lead, plan and conduct Health & Safety Management System (HSMS) audits across large, high risk civil and rail infrastructure projects
  • Deliver assurance activities within complex rail civil infrastructure construction environments
  • Assess compliance with WHS legislation, rail safety requirements and heavy vehicle regulatory frameworks
  • Review and test the effectiveness of safety systems, risk controls and governance arrangements
  • Identify systemic issues, emerging trends and continuous improvement opportunities
  • Prepare clear, evidence based audit reports and present findings to senior management
  • Work collaboratively with project teams, contractors and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to validate findings and recommendations
  • Be supported by SMEs throughout the audit process, allowing you to focus on audit quality, insight and assurance outcomes

About you

Demonstrated experience conducting Health & Safety Management System audits in complex, high risk environments, with the ability to present an audit log.

Experience or exposure to:

  • Civil infrastructure construction projects
  • Rail projects and rail safety frameworks
  • Heavy vehicle compliance
  • Occupational Health & Hygiene (e.g. noise, dust, hazardous substances, exposure monitoring)

Sound understanding of WHS legislation, codes of practice and industry standards.

Strong analytical, interviewing and report writing skills.

Ability to engage credibly with senior leaders, contractors and regulators.

Essentials:

  • Tertiary qualification in WHS (minimum Certificate IV in WHS or Rail Safety)
  • WHS Management Systems Lead Auditor certification (e.g. ISO 45001 or equivalent)
  • Experience auditing large, multi-contractor or government infrastructure programs
