Lead Front-End Software Engineer

Bonsai, now part of Zoom, builds tools that help agencies and professional teams focus on meaningful work. We’re looking for a Lead Frontend Engineer to define and drive the frontend architecture. You will work across core product surfaces —proposals, contracts, invoicing, payments, time tracking, tasks and projects.

You’ll own both implementation and technical direction. You’ll define how we build, scale, and evolve our frontend systems. Working closely with Product and Design, you’ll turn complex workflows into clear, elegant experiences. You’ll also set the benchmark for frontend engineering excellence across the team.

Responsibilities

• Owning and evolving the frontend architecture across core product areas, balancing speed, scalability, and maintainability.

• Leading and deciding on frameworks, state handling, rendering strategies, and system designing.

• Driving and shaping the evolution of our design system and component structuring using React and TypeScript.

• Partnering and aligning with Product and Design, defining UX patterning, and elevating usability and polishing.

• Mentoring and guiding other engineers through reviewing, pairing, and directing.

• Establishing and maintaining best practices for performing, testing, accessibility ensuring, and reliability improving.

• Collaborating and integrating with backend teams for designing clean, scalable API contracting and data flowing.

• Contributing and assisting in roadmap planning, breaking and clarifying ambiguous problem solving into actionable working.

What we’re looking for

• Have extensive experience building and scaling complex frontend applications using React and TypeScript.

• Demonstrate a proven track record of owning frontend systems or leading major technical initiatives.

• Show deep understanding of state management, rendering models, and performance trade‑offs.

• Make pragmatic decisions in ambiguous environments with high autonomy.

• Collaborate closely with Product and Design to shape user experiences—not just implement them.

• Apply solid knowledge of testing strategies, accessibility, and cross‑browser compatibility.

• Build SaaS products and understand workflows such as billing, contracts, or payments; experience with document builders, workflow engines, or complex form systems would be advantageous.

• Bring familiarity with advanced frontend patterns such as rich text editors, server‑driven or hybrid approaches, and internationalization or multi‑currency support.
