In this role, you will lead the execution of custom automated equipment with a strong focus on pneumatic and hydraulic systems You will serve as the technical and leadership backbone of the fluid power build phase—ensuring systems are designed, installed, and commissioned safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. Your expertise will directly support the successful delivery of complex, one‑of‑a‑kind automation solutions across a variety of industries.

Location Type This is an onsite position located in Nashville, TN

How You’ll Make an Impact:

  • Assist Engineering during the project development phase
  • Provide hands‑on leadership and direct supervision of project teams during the build phase
  • Plan, organize, and control the build process, including schedules, labor hours, and related costs
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with engineering,project management, and other departments throughout all project phases, including debug and runoff
  • Ensurematerialsarriveontimeandareavailable to support project schedules
  • Communicate key project details, workloadexpectations, and required hours to project teams
  • Drive best practices,continuous improvement, and cost‑saving initiatives within the fluid power team
  • Assign,track, and prioritizework to ensure effective use of team resources
  • Lead,motivate, and develop team members to achieve high levels of individual and team performance
  • Set clear expectations and provide ongoing feedback, coaching, and accountability, including participation in formal performance reviews
  • Support and execute company initiatives while ensuring changes and issues are properly documented and communicated
  • Delivertimely,high‑qualityservicetointernal and external customers
  • Communicateprojectstatus,milestones,timing, hours, and budget considerations to theFluid Power Manager and ProjectManager
  • Supportteamdevelopmentthroughleadership,training,encouragement, and apositive,safety‑focusedculture
  • Contributetoquotingeffortsbyprovidinginputonconcepts,laborestimates, and materialcosts
  • Maintainaclean,safe, and organizedwork environment
  • Upholdhighstandardsforsafety, quality, and on‑timedeliverywhile holding team members accountable to company policies and procedures
  • Applytechnicalexpertise to safelytroubleshootpneumatic and hydraulicsystems, install piping and hoses, and read blueprints and schematics

What You’ll Bring:

  • High school diploma or equivalent certification, with a minimum of 4 years of hands‑on fluid power experience; related vocational or technical education, and a Journeyman’s card are preferred
  • Current or prior JR Automation experience, or experience in the automation industry, is strongly preferred
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with a demonstrated commitment to safety and quality
  • Proficiency in schematic interpretation, pipe threading, fitting identification, and fluid power symbols
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel
  • Proven ability to lead, set expectations, and hold team members accountable to timing, budget, and customer requirements
  • Ability to train, mentor, and develop team members
  • Physically capable of maintaining a steady work pace while bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, and working on or beneath machines

Other Details:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as required
  • Ability to obtain Hi‑Lo (forklift), aerial platform, and overhead crane licenses, as well as Lockout/Tagout certification, while employed at JR Automation
  • Ability to provide personal hand tools and a suitable toolbox
  • Travel of approximately 20% may be required, including domestic and international travel, depending on project needs
