Eaton’s ES AMER ARS division is currently seeking a Lead Firmware Engineer.

What you’ll do:

Perform the design and creation of unique product solution by design and develop embedded system/micro-controller firmware supporting electronic residential circuit protection devices. Responsibilities for this role are linked with Eaton’s digitalization strategy and include integration of firmware, documentation and product testing for applications and features in power management and distribution.

Job Responsibilities
• Lead firmware design and implementation for safety critical electronic products that meets or exceeds marketing and customer requirements
• support all project phases from requirements definition thru sustaining phases plus related project management tasks (timeline scheduling, cost estimation, progress tracking)
• Write well structured, readable code
• Create fully documented code that is easily understood by others
• Direct product requirements in terms of functional and nonfunctional engineering requirements in response to the marketing/customer requirements specification
• Plan work in detail at individual level, creating a robust and track-able plan using agile methods
• Reviews own work as well as other’s work in formal design and quality reviews
• Tests work, meeting quality and reliability goals
• Train new design engineers in best design practices and Eaton processes
• Improve engineering design and product support processes
• Perform and contribute to technical research and investigations
• Lead product certification activities acting as the Eaton representative- UL/CSA
• Interact with domestic and international project teams assigned to research, design, develop, test and/or launch new innovations

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related fields.
• 5 years experience in similar positions.

• Bilingual Spanish - English

Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree
• Experience and/or knowledge of safety critical electronic devices and systems
• Knowledge of analog and digital circuit design
• Knowledge and understanding of current and voltage sensing methodologies
• Knowledge of and experience with project tracking tools such as Jira and Confluence
• Expertise with Design for Six Sigma processes
• Experience with embedded firmware 32 bit microcontrollers (e.g. ARM Cortex)
• Experience in code development tools and teams such as GitHub, Jama and Zephyr
