Job Description

Lead the financial reporting, accounting, and tax compliance function for India business. The role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting under Ind AS, Indian GAAP, and IFRS and managing statutory and regulatory obligations. The position will also lead audits, group reporting, and drive finance transformation initiatives to strengthen governance and reporting capabilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Financial Reporting & Book Closure

  • Lead and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

  • Prepare and review financial statements in compliance with Ind AS, Indian GAAP, and IFRS.

  • Manage group reporting and consolidation requirements for multinational reporting structures.

  • Drive improvements in financial reporting processes, controls, and documentation.

2. Finance Transformation & Governance

  • Lead finance transformation initiatives to build and strengthen reporting capability.

  • Establish and enhance governance frameworks.

  • Drive implementation of best practices in financial reporting controls, disclosure management, and governance standards.

  • Build scalable processes to support regulatory reporting, board-level disclosures.

  • Perform detailed financial analytics and balance sheet reconciliations, including variance analysis, trend reviews, and identification of anomalies to strengthen the accuracy and reliability of financial reporting.

3. Accounting Governance

  • Ensure robust accounting practices and compliance with applicable accounting standards and internal policies.

  • Manage intercompany accounting and reconciliations across group entities.

  • Maintain strong internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR).

4. Audit Management

  • Lead and coordinate statutory audits, internal audits, group audits, tax audits, and special audits.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for auditors and ensure seamless audit execution.

  • Proactively address audit observations and ensure timely closure of audit points and remediation actions.

5. Tax and Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with Direct Tax regulations and support tax assessments and litigation in coordination with the Tax team.

  • Monitor and manage FEMA compliance and regulatory reporting.

  • Ensure compliance with Companies Act provisions including CSR reporting and disclosures.

  • Monitor CSR program financials and compliance, including tracking utilisation of CSR funds.

  • Support regulatory filings with MCA and other statutory authorities.

6. Stakeholder Management & Leadership

  • Collaborate with Group Finance, Tax, Legal, Secretarial and Business teams to ensure smooth financial reporting.

  • Lead and mentor the financial reporting team, driving capability development and high performance.

  • Drive process improvements, automation, and standardization within the finance function.

QUALIFICATION:

Essential/Must-have: Chartered accountant

Desirable/Good to have: Law, MBA

EXPERIENCE: Consumer Durable, FMCG, Alcobev

Essential/Must-have:

  • 9–12 years of post-qualification experience, preferably with:

  • Multinational FMCG / Consumer companies

  • Lead and manage a team of 4–6 finance professionals responsible for accounting, reporting, and compliance.

KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Indian GAAP, Ind AS, IFRS

  • Experience in financial consolidation and group reporting

  • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP / Oracle or equivalent)

  • Understanding of Direct Tax, FEMA, and Companies Act compliance

Analytical Skills

  • Strong financial and data analytical capabilities

  • Ability to interpret complex accounting and regulatory issues

Leadership & Soft Skills

  • Strong leadership and team management capability

  • Effective stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration

  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving ability

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
