Job Description

The Lead Field Engineer is responsible for overseeing field engineering activities, ensuring technical execution aligns with project specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements. This role serves as the primary technical liaison between engineering, construction, operations, and project management teams while leading field engineers and supporting successful project delivery from mobilization through commissioning.


Field Engineering Leadership

  • Lead and supervise field engineering personnel and technical staff on project sites.
  • Coordinate daily engineering activities to support construction and operational schedules.
  • Provide technical direction and mentorship to junior field engineers.
  • Ensure field teams follow engineering standards, procedures, and best practices.

Project Execution

  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation for accuracy and constructability.
  • Support project planning, scheduling, and execution activities.
  • Monitor field progress and resolve technical issues impacting timelines or quality.
  • Interface with project managers, contractors, subcontractors, and clients.

Technical Oversight

  • Act as the primary point of contact for field engineering decisions.
  • Troubleshoot equipment, installation, and design challenges in real time.
  • Coordinate engineering changes, RFIs (Requests for Information), and field design modifications.
  • Ensure installations comply with engineering specifications and regulatory requirements.

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) standards.
  • Conduct inspections and verify work meets project and engineering standards.
  • Support commissioning and system testing activities.
  • Maintain accurate engineering and field documentation.

Safety

  • Promote and enforce company safety policies and procedures.
  • Participate in safety meetings, audits, and incident investigations.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks impacting safety performance.

Reporting & Communication

  • Prepare field engineering reports, progress updates, and technical summaries.
  • Communicate project risks, delays, and solutions to leadership.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with procurement, logistics, and operations teams.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related discipline).
  • 5–10+ years of field engineering or project engineering experience.
  • Experience leading technical teams in a field environment.
  • Strong knowledge of construction or industrial installation practices.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel or work rotational field schedules.
  • Experience in energy, wind, construction, infrastructure, or heavy industry projects.
  • Commissioning or startup experience.
  • Familiarity with project management tools and reporting systems.
