Job Description

Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Field Engineer - Civil to support the supervision and monitoring of civil construction activities for a major development project in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The Field Engineer will work under the direction of the Resident Engineer and Construction Manager to ensure that all civil works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, project schedules, and health and safety requirements. The successful candidate will play a key role in site inspections, progress monitoring, technical coordination, quality verification, and resolving construction-related issues to facilitate successful project delivery.

Your role

  • Supervise and monitor day-to-day civil construction activities on site to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and verify that construction works are carried out in accordance with approved methodologies and quality standards.
  • Monitor contractor performance and ensure construction activities progress according to approved schedules.
  • Review construction drawings and technical documents and identify discrepancies or conflicts for resolution.
  • Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, MEP engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Inspect excavation, foundations, concrete works, structural elements, roads, utilities, drainage systems, and external works.
  • Review and monitor contractor method statements, work procedures, and inspection requests.
  • Verify material deliveries and ensure materials used on site comply with approved specifications and material submittals.
  • Witness field testing, laboratory testing, and inspection activities related to civil works.
  • Ensure proper implementation of Quality Assurance and Quality Control procedures.
  • Identify construction issues and provide technical recommendations for timely resolution.
  • Prepare site observation reports, inspection reports, and daily progress records.
  • Assist in reviewing Requests for Information (RFIs), technical queries, and field change requests.
  • Monitor compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements and report unsafe practices.
  • Verify quantities and completed works to support progress reporting and payment certification.
  • Coordinate with survey teams to ensure proper setting-out and alignment of construction activities.
  • Participate in project meetings, site walks, and construction coordination meetings.
  • Monitor snagging, de-snagging, and punch-list activities during project closeout.
  • Support testing, commissioning, and handover activities related to civil infrastructure and building works.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, site instructions, and project documentation.

About you

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university.
  • Minimum 8+ years of overall experience in civil construction and site supervision.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a Field Engineer or Site Engineer role on large building projects.
  • Proven experience in large-scale buildings, convention centers, hospitality developments, hotels, resorts, mixed-use developments, or commercial projects.
  • Experience within Site Supervision Consultancy, Engineering Consultancy, or PMC environments is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of civil construction methods, materials, and inspection procedures.
  • Familiarity with reinforced concrete structures, foundations, roads, utilities, drainage, and external works.
  • Good understanding of international construction codes, standards, and engineering practices.
  • Experience reviewing shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements.
  • Familiarity with QA/QC requirements and construction quality standards.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations applicable to construction sites.
  • Ability to identify construction issues and recommend practical engineering solutions.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and engineering software applications.
  • Previous experience in Saudi Arabia or GCC projects is highly desirable.
  • Membership in a recognized professional engineering institution is an advantage.
  • Fluency in English is required; Arabic language skills are an advantage.
