Overview
We are seeking an experienced Field Engineer – Architectural Finishes to supervise and monitor architectural finishing works for a prestigious large-scale development project in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all architectural finishes are executed in accordance with approved drawings, project specifications, quality standards, design intent, and project schedules. Working closely with the Resident Engineer, Construction Manager, architects, interior designers, contractors, and specialist suppliers, the Field Engineer will play a vital role in delivering high-quality finishes across convention centers, hospitality facilities, mixed-use developments, and landmark building projects.
Your role
- Supervise and inspect architectural finishing works to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.
- Monitor installation of architectural finishes including wall finishes, ceilings, flooring, cladding, joinery, millwork, decorative elements, waterproofing, and façade-related finishes.
- Ensure finishes are delivered in accordance with design intent, approved material samples, mock-ups, and quality standards.
- Review shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, and technical submissions related to architectural works.
- Conduct regular site inspections to verify workmanship quality and compliance with approved standards.
- Coordinate with architectural, structural, MEP, interior design, and specialist contractor teams to resolve interface issues.
- Monitor contractor progress and ensure finishing activities are aligned with approved construction schedules.
- Review mock-ups and sample installations and recommend acceptance or corrective actions.
- Verify that materials delivered to site comply with approved specifications and material submittals.
- Witness inspections and testing activities related to finishes, waterproofing systems, sealants, coatings, and façade elements.
- Ensure compliance with approved Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) procedures.
- Identify quality deficiencies and issue site observations, non-conformance reports, and corrective action recommendations.
- Support the review and resolution of Requests for Information (RFIs), technical queries, and site instructions.
- Monitor contractor workmanship standards and ensure corrective actions are implemented where necessary.
- Participate in progress meetings, inspections, design coordination meetings, and technical reviews.
- Assist in verifying completed works for progress reporting and payment certification.
- Conduct snagging and de-snagging inspections and ensure timely closure of punch list items.
- Support testing, commissioning, operational readiness, and project handover activities.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements during finishing operations.
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, approvals, observations, and project documentation.
About you
- Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 8+ years of overall professional experience in building construction and architectural supervision.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in architectural finishes supervision on major building projects.
- Proven experience in luxury hotels, resorts, convention centers, mixed-use developments, commercial towers, or high-end building developments.
- Experience within Site Supervision Consultancy, Engineering Consultancy, or PMC environments is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of architectural finishes, interior fit-out works, and building envelope systems.
- Experience supervising installation of stone, marble, granite, ceramic tiles, wood flooring, gypsum systems, suspended ceilings, decorative finishes, wall coverings, joinery, and specialty finishes.
- Familiarity with hospitality industry standards and high-quality finishing requirements.
- Experience reviewing shop drawings, materials, mock-ups, and technical submittals.
- Strong understanding of QA/QC requirements, inspection procedures, and material testing processes.
- Knowledge of international building standards and architectural construction best practices.
- Ability to identify workmanship deficiencies and recommend practical solutions.
- Previous experience on projects in Saudi Arabia or the GCC region is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and technical reporting skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant construction management software.
- Fluency in English is required; Arabic language skills are an advantage.
