What to Expect

As a Tesla Lead Equipment Maintenance Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the operational availability of a wide array of manufacturing equipment. You will apply your technical skills to install, maintain and repair mechanical and electrical systems, factory automation and robotics. You will work with the highest caliber process and equipment engineering teams to improve equipment reliability and minimize or eliminate downtime. Tesla's Equipment Maintenance is also the first-responding problem solvers who manage machine breakdown recoveries to keep production running. This is a physically demanding job working in tight spaces, requiring walking, and standing all day, as well as, bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing ladders and lying on the ground intermittently throughout the day. Equipment Maintenance Technicians will lift up to 50 lbs. and utilize other hand tools and power tools as needed. Leads will provide technical leadership amongst other technicians on shift and provide support to the shift supervisors.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform Preventative Maintenance (PM) on all industrial production and mechatronics equipment
  • Production-down equipment. Diagnose equipment failures, identify the root cause and communicate required actions across relevant teams
  • Collaborate with Process and Equipment Engineering teams to improve equipment reliability and maintenance protocols
  • Perform Corrective Maintenance (repairs) on more than one of these types of equipment: Electrical systems ranging from 24 VDC to 480 VAC 3 phase, Mechanical systems, Conveyor Systems, Hydraulics, Pneumatics, PLC and networks, Robotics
  • Order parts, supplies, and equipment from catalogues and suppliers, or obtain them from storerooms
  • Log all work as performed utilizing Tesla CMMS
  • Work with supervisor to identify gaps in scheduling and plan Technician coverage accordingly

What You’ll Bring

  • Five (5) or more years of experience working in a maintenance capacity on production manufacturing equipment and/or have equivalent training or relevant education
  • Experience with troubleshooting and repairing complex electrical or mechanical systems
  • Ability to read and interpret detailed mechanical assembly drawings and electrical schematics to analyze problems, identify root causes and implement viable, long-term solutions
  • Advanced computer skills (able to use job-specific PC applications and coach other users)
  • Solid electrical knowledge. Ability to use a multimeter to diagnose electrical issues
  • Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal. Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance (PM) on all industrial production and mechatronics equipment

Expected Compensation

  • Equipment Maintenance Technician - $28.80 - $33.52/hour
  • Equipment Maintenance Technician - $34.63 - $38.28/hour
  • Equipment Maintenance Technician - $37.38 - $43.44/hour

+ cash and stock awards + benefits for all levels

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
