Do you bring deep epidemiological expertise, enjoy working with complex real-world data, and thrive in a global, cross-functional environment? If you are excited about leading epidemiological studies, strengthening scientific methods, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, you may be the Lead Epidemiologist we are looking for.

About the department:

The position

As a Lead Epidemiologist, you will play a key role in developing and applying epidemiological knowledge and methods to support Novo Nordisk’s project and product portfolio. You will independently lead epidemiological investigations and studies, provide expert guidance on study design and evidence generation, and take ownership of the epidemiological aspects of projects.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Translate epidemiological questions into fit-for-purpose data requirements and assess data structure, provenance, completeness, missingness, longitudinal coverage, and analytical feasibility.
  • Identify and evaluate relevant secondary data sources and e-health data partners, considering data quality, completeness, linkage potential, and fitness for purpose.
  • Ensure appropriate application and documentation of epidemiological methods and relevant quality standards, including Good Pharmacoepidemiology Practices (GPP) and applicable SOPs.
  • Provide and/or review statistical analysis plans and support high-quality reporting and publication of study results.
  • Address regulatory and external stakeholder requests relating to epidemiological studies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners, including CROs, academia, data providers, scientific communities, investigators, and relevant authorities.
  • Mentor and coach less experienced epidemiologists and contribute to knowledge sharing and the development of epidemiological standards and practices.
  • Communicate complex epidemiological concepts and study findings clearly to both scientific and non-scientific stakeholders.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, we are looking for someone with:

  • An MPH, MSc, PhD, or equivalent qualification.
  • Expert knowledge of epidemiology and knowledge of GxP, including Good Pharmacoepidemiology Practices.
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical, medical, or biological field working with epidemiological projects.
  • Extensive experience working with and analysing Real-World Data, patient registries, and/or external databases.
  • Experience with statistical programming in R or equivalent.
  • Strong experience collaborating across professional and international boundaries.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, scientific communication, and presentations.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking capabilities with a quality-focused approach.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and deliver within time-lines.
