Job Description

BlueScope is an Australian born, global success story, spanning 18 countries, with a team of over 16,500 people. We’re driven by innovation and are proud that the technologies in our products and brands, like COLORBOND® steel, inspire and protect everything from hospitals and bridges to stadiums and homes.

The Enterprise Architecture team sits within BlueScope’s Enterprise Technology function and is responsible for shaping the organisation’s technology direction, architecture standards and investment priorities. Partnering closely with business and technology leaders, the team helps ensure technology decisions support BlueScope’s long-term strategy and transformation agenda.

We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Architecture Lead to define and evolve BlueScope’s architecture capability and technology roadmap. Reporting to the Global Head of Strategy and Enterprise Architecture, you will connect business strategy with technology planning, helping guide major investment decisions and build the enterprise capabilities needed to support future growth and performance.

This role can be based in Port Kembla, Sydney (Mascot) or Melbourne (CBD).

Key Responsibilities

As a senior technology leader, you will lead the architecture function, establish enterprise standards and governance, and work closely with business, technology and cyber security leaders to provide direction on strategic initiatives. You will build architecture capability across the organisation, influence key technology decisions and help create a more connected, scalable and future-ready technology landscape

Responsibilities include:

  • Formulate and continually evolve BlueScope’s digital capability roadmap and target-state architecture.
  • Establish technology governance, standards and investment guardrails that maximise value and reduce duplication.
  • Translate complex technology opportunities into clear, commercially relevant narratives for executive decision makers.
  • Identify emerging technologies and assess their commercial relevance for BlueScope.
  • Shape the strategic platform, data and architecture decisions that support scalable enterprise capability.
  • Influence technology vendors, managed service providers and strategic partners to deliver measurable outcomes across cost, performance and risk.
  • Partner with cyber security leadership to embed technology risk, compliance and data protection into enterprise architecture.
  • Establish an effective architecture operating model and build a strong community of practice across the organisation.
  • Lead, inspire and develop a team of solution and enterprise architects.
  • Strengthen technical capability and improve technology literacy across BlueScope.

Qualifications

You are an influential and commercially minded technology leader who can operate effectively across a complex, multi-region organisation. You bring:

  • Significant enterprise architecture experience within a large and complex organisation.
  • Senior technology, operations or delivery leadership experience.
  • Experience leading large-scale technology services spanning infrastructure, platforms, applications and end-user services.
  • Strong experience working with complex vendor and managed service ecosystems.
  • Experience delivering outcomes through influence, partnership and clear governance.
  • The ability to engage executive leadership teams and translate technical complexity into clear options and decisions.
  • Familiarity with technology governance and control frameworks such as ITIL, COBIT or equivalent.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in engineering, technology, computer science, business, commerce, economics or a related discipline.

Experience within an asset-intensive, industrial, manufacturing, logistics or similarly complex operating environment would be highly regarded.
