What you’ll do

Lead Engineer – Systems Engineering

This role is responsible for leading systems engineering and model-based systems engineering (MBSE) activities for complex electrical systems with a primary focus on data center power and infrastructure architectures. The position develops system architectures, requirements, digital models, and engineering analyses that support the design, validation, and optimization of next-generation data center solutions. The role serves as a technical leader for system modeling, architecture trade studies, and cross-domain integration, ensuring traceability from stakeholder needs through design, verification, and operational performance.

Systems Engineering & Architecture

  • Apply Systems Engineering and MBSE methodologies to complex data center electrical systems.
  • Develop and manage requirements, functional, logical, and physical architectures.
  • Define system interfaces, behaviors, operating modes, and V&V strategies.
  • Develop CONOPS, operational scenarios, and maintain end-to-end requirements traceability.
  • Conduct architecture assessments and trade-off studies to support technical decision-making.

Electrical System Analysis

  • Perform power flow, voltage drop, power quality, short-circuit, protection coordination, fault, and transient studies.
  • Evaluate utility interconnections and MV/LV power distribution systems.

Data Center Infrastructure Modeling

  • Analyze end-to-end power architectures from utility service entrance to IT loads.
  • Evaluate switchgear, transformers, UPS, PDUs, busways, and rack-level power distribution systems.
  • Assess conventional, modular, distributed, and next-generation data center power architectures.

Trade-Off & Optimization Studies

  • Conduct multi-attribute trade-space analyses for architecture selection.
  • Evaluate solutions based on cost, efficiency, energy use, thermal performance, reliability, availability, resilience, scalability, maintainability, and footprint.
  • Develop decision-support models and recommend optimal solutions.

Validation & Verification

  • Validate system models using design data, test results, supplier inputs, and operational scenarios.
  • Ensure model fidelity, credibility, and compliance with program objectives.
  • Support verification planning and lifecycle validation activities.

Reliability & Resilience Engineering

  • Assess system reliability, availability, maintainability, and resilience.
  • Analyze redundancy architectures (N, N+1, 2N), single points of failure, and operational risks.
  • Apply reliability block diagrams and availability modeling techniques.

Cross-Functional Technical Leadership

  • Collaborate across electrical, controls, thermal, software, mechanical, reliability, and program teams.
  • Act as the technical lead for data center system modeling and architecture initiatives.
  • Drive systems engineering best practices, standards, and methodologies.
  • Present complex technical findings and actionable recommendations to leadership, customers, and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's/ Master Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Power Engineering, or a related discipline.

Preferred

  • Minimum 10+ years of relevant experience in systems engineering, electrical power systems, or data center infrastructure engineering.

Skills

Systems Engineering & MBSE

  • Extensive experience in system and subsystem-level systems engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of the systems engineering lifecycle and MBSE practices.
  • Expertise in requirements management, architecture development, interface management, and V&V planning.
  • Experience with digital engineering, digital thread, and model-based development.

Data Center Electrical Systems

  • Expertise in utility interconnection, grid interface, MV/LV distribution systems.
  • Hands-on experience with switchgear, transformers, busways, PDUs, UPS systems, and rack-level power distribution.
  • Strong understanding of data center architectures, KPIs, and power infrastructure design.

Power System Analysis

  • Proficient in power flow, fault, short-circuit, protection coordination, and power quality studies.
  • Experience in transient stability and disturbance analysis.

Multi-Domain Modeling & Simulation

  • Experience in electrical, thermal, controls, reliability, and infrastructure system modeling.
  • Skilled in dynamic simulations, digital twins, and integrated system analysis.

Reliability & Resilience Engineering

  • Expertise in reliability modeling, availability analysis, MTBF concepts, and maintainability assessments.
  • Experience with redundancy architectures (N, N+1, 2N), risk analysis, and single-point-of-failure evaluations.

Standards & Compliance

  • Strong knowledge of ISO/IEC 15288, IEEE, IEC, UL, and data center industry standards.
  • Familiar with electrical safety, compliance, and power quality requirements.

Engineering Tools

  • MATLAB/Simulink, ETAP, SKM, PSCAD, Digital Twin, and Co-simulation platforms.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering initiatives.
  • Strong stakeholder management, collaboration, and influencing skills.
