Job Description

Job Description Summary

GE Vernova's equipment operates in some of the most critical energy infrastructure in the world. The quality that goes into every component matters — and as a Lead Supplier Quality Specialist, you are part of making sure it holds. You will own the quality performance of assigned suppliers end to end: qualifying them, auditing them, tracking their performance, and driving meaningful improvement when it's needed.

This is a hands-on, cross-functional role for someone who understands heavy manufacturing at a deep technical level and knows how to turn quality data into supplier action.

Job Description

What You'll Do

  • Own inspection activities — ensure on-time supplier on-site inspections are completed effectively, review inspection records, prepare data books, qualify and review third-party surveyors, and participate in customer inspections.
  • Support supplier qualification and development — Support the qualification process for assigned suppliers, define development action plans, and drive follow-up to close gaps.
  • Help to conduct & close supplier audits — Support to close actions as an outcome of supplier audits (including Safety, Regulatory, and Governance (SRG) health, safety, and environmental risk assessments) while ensuring compliance, and support verification of corrective improvement plans where findings exist.
  • Contribute to improve supplier performance — provide timely and correct inputs to supplier scorecards, support performance reviews and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations, and share Findings, Observations, and Experiences (FOE) with cross-functional teams to embed lessons learned.
  • Engage in cross-functional design and planning reviews — actively participate in Design Reviews, Kick-Off Meetings / Technical Alignment Meetings (KOM/TAM), Manufacturing Process Plans / Control Plans (MPP/CP), and Inspection and Test Plan Preparation (ITPP) reviews.

Who You Are

You are a technically deep quality engineer with hands-on experience in heavy manufacturing environments who thrives in a role that combines supplier management, cross-functional collaboration, and on-the-ground problem-solving.

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a technical diploma with equivalent hands-on experience in quality or manufacturing roles.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in manufacturing or quality roles (degree holders); minimum 10 years for diploma holders.
  • Expert-level background in machining, heavy fabrication, and welding processes — this is essential on day one.
  • Advanced ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Hands-on knowledge of Metrology and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) standards, including Penetrant Testing (PT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), and Visual Testing (VT).
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and relevant international manufacturing quality standards.
  • American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Level II certification in Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Radiographic Testing (RT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MPT), or Liquid Penetrant Testing (LPT).
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally (up to 40%).

Preferred

  • Demonstrated track record of leading cross-functional alignment across Engineering, Sourcing, and Supplier teams.
  • Experience resolving complex quality disputes through structured negotiation and stakeholder engagement.
  • Proven ownership of quality issues from identification through to closure, with documented risk mitigation outcomes.
