We are now looking for Lead Engineer - Static to execute projects and support bids in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Reports To

The Lead Engineer - Static reports to Head of Discipline - Mechanical & Piping.

The Lead Static Engineer is responsible for leading the design, engineering, review, and technical assurance of all static equipment activities for ADNOC and EPC projects. The role ensures that engineering deliverables comply with ADNOC standards, international codes, project specifications, safety requirements, and quality objectives throughout the project lifecycle, including Conceptual, FEED, Detailed Engineering, EPC, Commissioning, and Start-up phases.

The position provides technical leadership and guidance to a team of static engineers and designers, ensuring safe, reliable, cost-effective, and operable designs for oil & gas, petrochemical, refinery, and energy projects.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership

  • Lead and supervise the Static Equipment Engineering discipline team for assigned projects.

  • Act as the focal point for all technical matters related to static equipment engineering.

  • Ensure engineering activities are executed in accordance with project schedules, budgets, and quality plans.

  • Provide technical direction, mentoring, and competency development for engineers and designers.

  • Interface with ADNOC, PMC, licensors, suppliers, and other engineering disciplines.

Design & Engineering

  • Perform and review design calculations, specifications, datasheets, material selections, and engineering studies for:

    • Pressure Vessels

    • Heat Exchangers

    • Storage Tanks

    • Separators and Scrubbers

    • Columns and Towers

    • Reactors

    • Filters

    • Pig Launchers/Receivers

    • Atmospheric and Pressurized Equipment

  • Review equipment sizing, design conditions, fabrication requirements, and inspection requirements.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards including:

    • ASME Section VIII Div. 1 & Div. 2

    • ASME B31.3

    • API 650

    • API 620

    • API 661

    • API 660

    • API 510

    • API 572

    • API 579

    • TEMA

    • NACE

    • ISO Standards

    • ADNOC Engineering Standards and Specifications

Project Execution

  • Support Conceptual, FEED, Detailed Design, EPC, Brownfield, and Revamp projects.

  • Review and approve vendor documents, drawings, calculations, and technical queries.

  • Participate in technical bid evaluations and procurement activities.

  • Coordinate with package engineers and equipment vendors during design, fabrication, and testing phases.

  • Ensure timely delivery of engineering documents and discipline deliverables.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure designs comply with ADNOC HSE policies and project safety philosophies.

  • Participate in:

    • HAZID

    • HAZOP

    • SIL Reviews

    • Constructability Reviews

    • Design Reviews

    • Risk Assessments

  • Promote process safety and equipment integrity throughout project execution.

Construction & Commissioning Support

  • Provide technical support during construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up activities.

  • Assist in resolving site engineering issues, NCRs, technical deviations, and vendor-related matters.

  • Participate in FAT, SAT, inspections, and equipment performance evaluations.

Quality Assurance

  • Ensure all engineering deliverables meet project quality requirements.

  • Conduct technical reviews, audits, and lessons-learned sessions.

  • Support compliance with ISO and ADNOC quality systems.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.

  • Master’s Degree is considered an advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum 15+ years of relevant experience in Static Equipment Engineering within the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refinery, LNG, or Energy industries.

  • Minimum 5 years in a Lead Engineer position managing multidisciplinary engineering projects.

  • Proven experience on ADNOC, Saudi Aramco, QatarEnergy, PDO, or other major Middle East operator projects

  • Experience in FEED, Detailed Engineering, EPC, Brownfield, and Greenfield projects.

Technical Competencies

  • Advanced knowledge of static equipment design and integrity management.

  • Strong understanding of mechanical design codes and standards.

  • Expertise in material selection and corrosion engineering principles.

  • Familiarity with equipment fabrication, inspection, and testing requirements.

  • Experience with engineering software such as:

    • PV Elite

    • Compress

    • HTRI

    • Aspen EDR

    • NozzlePRO

    • AutoCAD

    • SmartPlant / AVEVA Engineering Tools
