Eaton's Electrical Engineering Services & Systems division is seeking a Lead Software Engineer for its Advanced Distribution Planning System (ADPS) platform, based in Pune, India. As part of a multidisciplinary development team, the Lead Software Engineer will lead the design, development, and evolution of the next generation of Eaton’s cloud-native ADPS platform used for the analysis and modeling of electricity distribution networks and renewable energy systems.

We are looking for a highly motivated Lead Software Engineer with strong expertise in C#, .NET, Azure Cloud, microservices, and SaaS platform development. The role requires a strong technical leader who can drive architecture-level decisions while remaining hands-on in the design and implementation of scalable, secure, reliable, and high-performance platform solutions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate architectural thinking, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and a passion for mentoring engineers, driving engineering excellence, continuous improvement, and innovation across the software development lifecycle.

• Lead the design, development, testing, and deployment of core ADPS platform services using modern C# and .NET.
• Lead the design and development of cloud-native ADPS solutions leveraging C++, .NET, Azure, and AKS technologies.
• Drive end-to-end solution delivery, including platform architecture, backend services, engine integration, performance optimization, and scalable cloud deployment.
• Analyze product requirements, technical specifications, and engineering use cases to define scalable and secure solutions.
• Own the technical direction of assigned platform components, services, and integration interfaces.
• Design reusable frameworks, shared services, common platform capabilities, and well-defined application programming interfaces.
• Drive architecture discussions, technical design reviews, and engineering decisions across product teams.
• Design distributed, cloud-native, and multi-tenant solutions with appropriate resiliency, security, observability, and performance.
• Remain hands-on by developing critical components, resolving complex technical issues, and creating technical prototypes.
• Review pull requests and ensure adherence to coding standards, design patterns, SOLID principles, and secure development practices.
• Define and improve unit testing, code coverage, automated quality checks, and continuous integration and delivery practices.
• Collaborate closely with Product Management, User Interface, Engine, Quality Assurance, DevOps, cybersecurity, and architecture teams.
• Support effort estimation, release planning, dependency management, technical risk assessment, and delivery execution.
• Improve platform scalability, reliability, maintainability, deployment efficiency, monitoring, and troubleshooting capabilities.
• Drive platform modernization, cloud adoption, performance optimization, technical-debt reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and development tools, including artificial intelligence-assisted engineering solutions.
• Mentor and coach engineers, promote knowledge sharing, and foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and technical excellence.
• Prepare and maintain architecture decisions, design specifications, interface documentation, deployment guidance, and operational documentation.

Qualifications:

  • BE/B.TEch degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
  • ME/M.Tech Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.

Experience:

• 8-12 years of software development experience.
• 2+ years of experience leading technical teams or serving as a Technical Lead or Lead Engineer.
• Strong hands-on experience in modern C# and .NET or .NET Core, C++ application development.
• Experience building enterprise-scale cloud-native applications and software platforms.
• Experience designing distributed, scalable, secure, and highly available systems.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure, microservices, REST-based services, and relational databases.
• Experience with containerization, continuous integration and delivery, source control, and modern DevOps practices.
• Strong experience working in Agile or Scrum software development environments.
• Utility, energy, engineering analytics, geographic information systems, or a similar domain is preferred.

Skills:

Required:
• C#, .NET or .NET Core, ASP.NET Web APIs, REST APIs, and Entity Framework.
• Microsoft Azure and cloud-native application design.
• Microservices architecture, distributed systems, design patterns, and SOLID principles.
• SQL Server or PostgreSQL, data modeling, query optimization, and caching strategies.
• Docker, Kubernetes, Azure DevOps or GitHub, and continuous integration and delivery pipelines.
• Application security, authentication and authorization, secure coding, and vulnerability remediation.
• Automated unit testing, code quality practices, logging, monitoring, observability, and performance troubleshooting.

Preferred:
• Event-driven architecture, Domain-Driven Design, and asynchronous processing patterns.
• Azure Service Bus, Event Hubs, RabbitMQ, or Kafka.
• Redis caching, GraphQL, and application programming interface versioning.
• Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code technologies.
• Software as a Service and multi-tenant platform architecture.
• Utility domain knowledge and exposure to CYME or ADPS solutions.
