Job Description

Integrates and develops successful power train designs and contributes to the development of analytical tools and processes that meet business needs across the organization. This role contributes to the overall strategy
and helps drive solutions for complex issues within power train dynamics and bearing design/operation.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Identify, develop, evaluate, and implement engineering solutions to meet short- and long-term rotordynamics design needs.
  • Provide technical deliverables in rotordynamics and shaft-line component design across the business (Gas, Steam, Generator), including support for manufacturing, sourcing, procurement, and site issue resolution. Typical deliverables include:
    • Rotor torsional and lateral (T&L) analysis
    • Rotor alignment procedures
    • Blade-out load calculations
    • Input to power train foundation specifications
    • Functional requirements for bearings and SSS clutches
    • Modeling and prediction of the dynamic behavior of field units
  • Ensure consistent design approaches and tool usage to improve team productivity.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations by analyzing, preparing, and presenting technical data to internal and external customers.
  • Prepare, issue, and manage rotordynamics deliverable documentation.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Physics, or equivalent knowledge/experience.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization, with excellent communication skills on technical issues and solutions.
  • Knowledge of vibration theory and/or machinery dynamics.

Desired Characteristics

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a team-oriented mindset.
  • Strong problem analysis and resolution skills, with a focus on vibration or power train dynamics (gas turbines, steam turbines, and generators).
  • Prior engineering experience related to vibration studies and/or machinery dynamics (e.g., bearing design, rotor balancing, and resolution of field/factory vibration issues).
  • Open to applying AI-enabled solutions (e.g., automation, advanced analytics, or decision-support tools) to improve engineering efficiency, standardize methods, and enhance productivity.
