
Role Overview :
The Lead Engineer owns the technical
integrity, reliability, and scalability of the Quest platform, while also being
directly hands-on in building critical systems.
This is a player-coach role:

Key Responsibilities:
Hands-on Engineering
Ownership (Critical)
â
Actively contribute to core platform
code (backend, APIs, system components)
â
Take ownership of complex, high-risk,
or poorly understood problem areas
â
Performance bottlenecks
â
Data inconsistencies
â
Critical bugs (e.g., save failures,
concurrency issues)
â
Build reference implementations that
set standards for vendors
â
Step in when:
â
Root cause is unclear
â
Issues are repeatedly reopened
This
role is not advisory — you get into the code and fix things
â
Define and evolve platform architecture
â
Ensure system coherence across modules,
services, and integrations
â
Make pragmatic architecture decisions
grounded in real constraints
â
Prevent over-engineering while ensuring
scalability
â
Define and enforce:
â
Coding standards
â
PR review processes
â
Personally review critical PRs and
vendor code
â
Set clear expectations for:
â
Multi-developer handoffs
â
Ownership of modules
â
Ensure Dev, QA, UAT, and Prod
environments are aligned
â
Standardize:
â
Server configs (file size limits,
caching, infra)
â
Deployment processes
â
Work hands-on with DevOps to fix:
â
Cache inconsistencies
â
Environment drift
â
Deployment issues
â
Define and enforce:
â
Unit testing standards (all success
criteria must be covered)
â
Scenario-based QA expectations
â
Ensure testing includes:
â
Boundary conditions (e.g., file size
limits)
â
Edge cases (state handling, retries,
failures)
â
No issue is closed without clear root
cause understanding

the codebase

Reduction in ticket reopens and
production bugs

6–10+ years of strong backend
engineering experience
â
Deep hands-on expertise in:

PHP/Laravel
â
MySQL modeling, performance and
debugging
â
APIs and distributed systems
â
Strong experience in:
â
Debugging production issues
â
Performance tuning
â
DevOps collaboration
â
Proven ability to:
â
Work across multiple teams/vendors
Salary:
The pay band for the position
starts at Rs. 1,25,000/- per month (cost to company)
