Job Description

As a member of the Steam turbine design engineering, you will be an active contributor to the overall design of steam turbine steampath and performance optimization. You will be responsible for technical review and follow-up with vendors and making sure that equipment and systems are delivered with highest level of quality, on-time and with full compliance to codes and standards and contract requirements.

Your Role:

  • Leading the design of steam turbine components like, HP, IP and LP sections, bearings, flanges, valves and blading.
  • Leading the design & Detailing of various steam turbine components like casings, bearing pedestals and bearings, rotors, blades, diaphragms, couplings etc
  • Prepare relevant design and quality documentation and layouts using CATIA in accordance with appropriate standards and design rules
  • Define material specifications for various steam turbine component
  • Carry out necessary calculations and analysis related to these components (using company software, spreadsheets or hand calculations)
  • Collect, analyze and provide resolution on technical data from vendor, site or customer.
  • Design of steam turbine fixed and moving blading for HP, IP and LP sections.
  • Releasing the blading drawings for manufacturing.
  • Solve Non-Conformance Reports arising during manufacturing and erection at shop/site.
  • Supporting tendering Process with Technical Tendering Layout and Retrofit Solution.
  • Collaborate with global & cross-functional team of internal Steam Turbine Engineers and external stakeholders (Drafting/Global Supply Chain) enabling & fostering mutual technical growth and delivering for our customers.
  • Mentor and guide engineers working in design team and review the task assigned to them
  • Shall be directly responsible for preparing Technical reports, Engineering Audit reports, Final execution reports/presentations.
  • Shall participate in Design reviews with Engineering Discipline leaders/Controlled Title Holders to brainstorm and propose mitigation measures to minimize risks during execution.
  • Shall follow the Safety-> Quality-> Delivery -> Cost principle for all the above deliverables.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering

  • Mechanical Component Basic design knowledge

  • About 8+ years’ experience on Large Steam Turbines

  • Operating knowledge on Catia V5 – Drafting and modeling.

  • Familiarity with steam turbine blading design and STITS tool or similar blading design tools

  • Experience in layout design or design analysis of turbo machinery components

  • Knowledge of reverse engineering techniques and Component Measurement.

  • Willing ness to travel extensively – travel includes site and office travel.

  • Strong communication skills

  • Good in writing technical reports.

  • Desired Characteristics
  • A Postgraduate in Engineering.
  • Prior experience on Design of mechanical components for Upgrade Projects.
  • Inspection/Quality control of Steam Turbine components.
  • Excellent communications skills - both verbal and written
  • Strong interpersonal and responsive skills
