Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) is hiring a Lead Engineer, Mechanical on a permanent basis in our Major Projects team.

This position requires on-site work and is based in Regina, SK

Take the lead on complex, high‑impact mechanical engineering work while shaping the growth and success of a highly skilled technical team. As Lead Engineer, Mechanical, you’ll act as the engineer of record—using your expertise to make critical technical decisions, set standards, manage risk, and mentor future engineering leaders. This role offers a rare blend of deep technical challenge, professional autonomy, and leadership influence, with a direct hand in driving maintenance excellence and long‑term operational reliability.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead mechanical and piping project scopes end‑to‑end, solving complex, non‑routine technical challenges and ensuring consistency across project and Manufacturing mechanical teams.
  • Prepare tender documentation, evaluates vendor submissions, recommends awards, and oversees technical reviews and vendor coordination for major equipment deliveries.
  • Provide technical leadership across disciplines, working in close partnership with Electrical and Instrumentation & Control Lead Engineers to ensure aligned execution.
  • Mentor and develops junior engineers, sets KPIs, oversees quality and standards, allocates resources effectively, and leads regular team forums for continuous improvement.
  • Support budgeting and planning through accurate cost estimates while promoting a strong culture of safety and compliance.
  • Collaborate with external engineering service providers to deliver on project objectives within the Energy Roadmap project portfolio.
  • Have 10+ years of progressively responsible, relevant experience in engineering roles.
  • Have a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered).
  • Are a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) and member of APEGS, with specialization in one or more fields of engineering, and have training or education in Reliability‑Centered Maintenance (RCM) methodology and maintenance practices.

The Team: You will work closely with Project Managers, fellow Lead Engineers, engineers, technicians, and external contract engineering resources. You will have direct leadership accountability for a small group of professional technical staff and provide technical guidance to a broader multidisciplinary group through indirect influence. You will report into Senior Engineering Manager. This team strives to cultivate a culture of safety excellence, technical rigor, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
