Job Description

Hanab ES is the only EPC company in the Netherlands that covers the full chain of high-voltage engineering and construction—from laying underground and overhead high-voltage cables to designing and building substations for a wide variety of clients. We design, engineer, construct, deliver and maintain the high-voltage infrastructure that powers the energy transition. Our systems support hydrogen plants, battery storage facilities, data centers, and TenneT’s national grid expansion. Join a growing international engineering community with a great team atmosphere, strong technical ambition, and excellent employment conditions.

Annual compensation €62.000 – €90.000. Willingness to relocate, if applicable (relocation support available).

Your Role: Lead Engineer High Voltage (Secondary Systems)

As the Lead Engineer within your project team, you are the key designer of the systems required to control, monitor, and protect all high-voltage components installed at substations. This secondary engineering work includes extensions, renovations, and new builds. Thanks to the wide variety of substations and the rapid developments in the energy transition, your work remains exciting every single day!

Your responsibilities include:

  • Translate functional requirements into concrete engineering designs and project plans.
  • Designing and verifying integrated solutions based on client specifications, technical standards and guidelines, and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Prepare and review technical documentation: drawings, calculations, schematics, and execution packages.
  • Support the Technical Manager and Project Manager from concept design through detailed engineering and execution.
  • Identify and resolve design issues and carry out quality checks within your discipline.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders throughout all project phases.

To be successful

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a related discipline
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in designing complex high-voltage systems, with a focus on reliability, availability, maintainability, and safety
  • A proactive, entrepreneurial mindset with strong analytical and communication skills
  • Fluent in English and willing to learn Dutch
  • Willingness to relocate, if applicable (relocation support available)

What We Offer

Annual compensation: €62.000 – €90.000, - consisting of:

  • Vacation:
    24.5 days (full-time)
  • Pension: ABP pension scheme (27% contribution, of which Hanab ES pays 18.9%)
  • Training budget: €1,500 per year for job-specific development
  • Collective labour agreement: Network Companies (CAO Netwerkbedrijven)
  • Public transport remuneration
  • Sustainable employability budget: €500 per year (e.g. for a gym membership)
