This position is seeking a passionate and technically strong Lead Engineer to join Grid Strategy & Advancement (GSA) Engineering Application team. This position requires heavy technical expertise to serve as primary engineering liaison between Duke Energy and large load data center customers. The role manages in-depth technical communications and evaluations regarding system stability, EMT, protection, and power quality. Blending the engineering expertise with practical project management experience, this position oversees external engineering consultants, navigates complex regulatory frameworks, and is essential for translating complex technical details during customer communications while managing ad-hoc engineering deliverables.
The Lead Engineer is at the specialist level of the Engineering classification hierarchy. Employees at this level solve complex problems, manage work, and provide leadership to others in engineering areas of specialization, with minimal supervision and increased latitude for un-reviewed work. The Lead Engineer serves in lead roles providing guidance to others. They are also expected to have advanced skills and have the ability to work independently.
