Activities aimed at proving a concept to be valid or technically feasible by the application of scientific and engineering methodologies. Work in this family typically has the objective of demonstrating through test or analyses the performance and implementation potential of a concept. With a demonstrated knowledge of DFT, and DFR (Testing, Reliability). Familiar with control design process from requirement to sustaining released product.

Impacts departmental operations and responsible for planning/execution. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with guidance. Ability to pursue resolutions independently to complex problems involving design, testing, operations, finances, and logistics and provide trade-offs to management.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Conceptual or theoretical activities that deals with the study/research and application of electricity, electronics, and electromagnetism. Firmware team specific: Can use simulation tools to model and verify operation of control code and communicate results to a broader audience.
• Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy. Firmware team specific: Can participate at control code (Markstat) and application code discussions and decisions and present validation at review stages to a broader audience. Productively provides and receives feedback and incorporates into technical discussions.
• In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area. Pursues collaborations with other teams working on similar technologies and projects in larger business perspective.
• Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with CTH guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions. Maintains knowledge of developments in technical field and incorporates them into discussions with team.
• A job at this level is likely to be an individual contributor with proven interpersonal skills or an early people leader who can hire and develop talent. Provides informal guidance to new team members. Can provide structured mentorship and guidance in-line with company objectives while also encouraging personal and professional growth of new team member

Required Qualifications

• For roles outside of the USA- This role requires advanced experience in the Engineering/Technology & Electrical Engineering. Knowledge level is comparable to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college and at least 6 years experience ( or a high school diploma with relevant experience).
• For roles in USA - Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 6 years of experience in Job Family Group(s)/Function(s)). Firmware team specific: C++ code, simulation tools, test plan/validation plans for labs and result review

Desired Characteristics

• Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills. Can lead design reviews, not just contribute to the discussion. Ability to organize and manipulate data either manually or with an LLM-based AI tool.
