As a Lead Engineer , you will act as the thermal expert for next-generation electric axle systems, ensuring optimal thermal performance, efficiency and cost competitiveness across platform and customer projects. Working closely with international and cross-functional teams, you will drive the development of innovative thermal management solutions for eMobility applications and contribute to the success of future electric powertrain systems.
Your tasks:
► Acting as the thermal expert for eAxle systems, ensuring thermal performance and cost competitiveness throughout the product lifecycle
► Developing, evaluating and implementing thermal system concepts and solutions in collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams
► Performing system-level thermal simulations and predicting the thermal behavior of eAxle components and systems
► Planning, defining and executing thermal measurements, including result analysis, interpretation and validation activities
► Developing and continuously improving thermal simulation models while ensuring correlation between simulation and measurement data
► Serving as the main interface for thermal-related topics between electric machine, gearbox and power electronics domains, as well as internal and external stakeholders
► Supporting project teams by taking ownership of thermal system deliverables, including requirement analysis, technical presentations and customer communication
► Providing technical guidance on thermal management topics and supporting system-level decision-making
► Supporting software-related topics at system level, including thermal management functions, control strategies and calibration concepts
► Contributing to the continuous development of thermal engineering methodologies, tools and processes
► Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Thermodynamics or a related field
► Strong expertise in thermodynamics, heat transfer and thermal system behavior at both component and system level
► Solid understanding of electric powertrain systems and the interaction of key eMobility components
► Experience with thermal management and cooling concepts in electrified powertrain applications
► Experience with system simulation tools such as AMESIM, Simscape, Simulink or similar platforms
► Proficiency in MATLAB and common engineering tools (e.g. DOORS, MS Office)
► Understanding of 3D FEA and CFD simulation methods and related tools (e.g. ANSYS, Fluent)
► Good understanding of automotive embedded software architecture and system interactions
► Ability to formulate software-related requirements and understand software implementation from a system perspective
► Understanding of software-controlled thermal management strategies is an advantage
► Basic understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes as well as cost-efficient product design principles
► Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
► Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills in an international environment
► Ability to work effectively in cross-functional and global teams
► Fluent English language skills (written and spoken)
