Job Description

Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

Seeking a skilled Transmission component designer with a minimum of 10 years experience in Gear, shafts and casting component design and managing gear layout. Strong proficiency in Siemens NX 3D modelling and drawing preparation. The ideal candidate to possess foundational knowledge of tolerance stack-up analysis and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

Design & Development

  • Design and develop gear trains for EV reducers, e-axles, and hybrid transmission systems (SHEV)
  • Conduct gear sizing, ratio selection, strength calculations, and micro-geometry optimization
  • Develop transmission concepts considering efficiency, NVH, packaging, durability, and manufacturability
  • Perform detailed design of helical gear, differential gear sets, bevel gears, splines
  • Knowledge on Gear testing like Single flank, dual flank tester, EOL NVH limit setting.
  • Worked closely with CAE teams for FEA, Mechanical, and durability evaluations.
  • Understanding of: Bearings, Shafts, oil seals, lubrication systems
  • Strong understanding of Gear theory and design fundamentals , Gear manufacturing processes , Heat treatment methods , Transmission layouts and architectures, Transmission NVH
  • Create and optimize designs for Gear, shafts and casting component using NX 3D CAD software.
  • Develop detailed 3D models and 2D drawings, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, design calculations, and tolerance stack-up analysis to ensure manufacturability and performance.
  • Support product development from initial design through prototyping, testing, and mass production.

Technical Analysis & Simulation

  • Perform gear design calculations in accordance with: ISO 6336, AGMA standards, DIN standards.
  • Gear strength analysis, contact stress analysis, Bending fatigue analysis, Scuffing and micro-pitting assessments
  • Support NVH optimization through gear micro-geometry modifications and tolerance stack-up analysis.
  • Hands on experience with gear design software such as: KISSsoft & KISSsys, Romax
  • Interpret simulation results and recommend design improvements.

Experience

6 to 10 Years

Industry Preferred

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (preferred).

General Requirements

  • Proficiency in Siemens NX 3D modelling and drawing preparation, including assembly modelling and standards-compliant drafting.
  • Basic knowledge of tolerance stack-up analysis and GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
  • Familiarity with Gear and shaft materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Understanding of DFM/DFA principles and die casting tooling design.

Cad modelling software: Teamcenter, NX, Catia, 3DExperience
