Job Description

GA DCS Lead Engineer executes DCS engineering activities for the projects assigned considering the quality/Cost/ time delivery criteria. This role involves planning design activities, managing project design budget, implementing design change process, supervising, and coordinating all engineering activities required to execute the project, whether done in house or by suppliers/subcontractors, and ensuring technical compliance to project specification. The successful candidate will be accountable for the performance of design engineering activities for the project assigned. The successful candidate will coordinate with cross functional teams, customers, and suppliers to ensure timely and efficient project delivery.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Execute the DCS Engineering activities for the projects assigned considering the quality/Cost/ time delivery criteria
  • Man-days (MD) estimation for design activities during ITO stage and its control during OTR stage.
  • Liaise with other members of a multidisciplinary team to specify and design the project, whilst meeting the required technical standards.
  • Control projects effectively in terms of budgeted profitability, planning, and general reporting (internal / external). Ensure that agreements with customer for documentation lead times, delivery, reliability, and quality are achieved within the budgetary constraints agreed within the Unit.
  • Manage global time schedule of DCS engineering activities, check coherency of links between engineering activities and other project functions activities (procurement, construction, commissioning) and organize follow up of critical activities of the project.
  • Ensure on-time delivery of design to stakeholders with suitable quality including partner documents.
  • Participate and contribute to the project multidisciplinary design reviews according to PL procedures and per the project strategy.
  • Participate to project strategy elaboration with PM and manage design issues up to resolution.
  • Analyze customer technical requirements, prepare and or consolidate clause by clause analysis and ensure compliance to Customer requirements through Technical queries. Identify, track and manage potential exception and represents customer interests in the design decisions at PM request.
  • Validate design throughout customer acceptance and check consistency of engineering documents before final release to customer while managing evolution of customer requirements & associated impacts.
  • Check effectiveness of design against delivery of contract requirements within project budget and look for global cost optimization in all design phase and mainly during base design.
  • Support site organization during site preparation and commissioning stage when required and ensure compliance with Quality Procedures, work instructions and processes defined at Unit and project level.
  • Support factory during FAT preparation and conduct internal validation followed by customer FAT to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Participate in cost reduction process through standardization and out of the box ideas that optimize the provided solutions.
  • Work very closely with R&D team to address DCS issues and provide the needed feedback to the product management team.

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 07 years minimum relevant experience in substation automation projects.
  • Experienced in GE DS Agile, GPG, G500 and D2xx RTUs
  • Ability to prepare design documents for substation automation projects
  • Ability to prepare substation automation configuration/database
  • Ability to conduct FAT with reference to project specification
  • Good experience in IEC61850, IEC-101, IEC104 and other substation automation communication protocols
  • Good oral / written communication skills in English
  • Ability and willingness to travel across the region without limitation.

  • Ability to read, interpret tender/contract documents, schematics, procedures and policy guidelines
  • Ability to define problems, collect relevant data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Knowledge in competitor products is advantage
  • Ability to provide training for internal team/customers and external customer/suppliers Time and resource management skills.
  • Ability to present technical solutions to customer and identify possible workaround for an issue
  • Health, Safety & Environmental requirements for engineering activities.
