About Position
As Engineer Control System for detail design, you will be responsible for delivering high quality detail design documents for Hydro Control System COE.
You will work autonomously and deliver as directed and under supervision of the Main Package Engineer (MPE, Control System COE) for the project or by the Control System Engineering Manager/Team Leader.
You will mainly perform hardware design of the various hydro Control system packages for one or more projects, on own DCS or on 3rd party control solutions

Role & Responsibilities

Work on control panel design involving PLC, IO devices, HMI, Workstations, etc., for a power plant control environment. Read processing notice, create Functional Analysis documents, create views as per P&ID. Perform interlocking design, wiring principles, etc., testing of control panels at GE Vernova workshop or supplier premises, support FAT, etc. Apply control design employing sensors, hardware, interlocking design, wiring principles, etc., to control the performance of devices, subsystems and systems. Proficient in applying EPLAN tools to create high quality GA, Schematic drawings, generate BOQ and reports, suitable for use in control panel manufacturing. Day-to-day activities include, but not limited to -

  • Perform contract analysis, concept design, reverse engineering, prepare work-statement documents.
  • Review supplier documents (IO list, P&ID, Minfex data of partners) and prepare/update IO list.
  • Work on supplier technical specifications for BTS or BTP DCS solution, do technical follow up.
  • Perform following activities on EPLAN Propanel & P8:
    • Creating 3D layouts, manage library inconsistencies from OEM (schneider/phoenix/Rittal) and rectification, modify step files, create and manage library components, create templates/standard profiles to manage bulk engineering.
    • Create, modify and manage standard profiles/templates for Electrical and Network schemes like PLC and IO’s assignments, Relays and Power supplies circuits, interlocking schemes.
    • Create, modify and manage templates for Part list of panels.
    • Manage wire routing/length/colouring/cross-sections, BOM calculation through EPLAN functionalities/scripts. Calculate duct filling capacity.
    • Templates for heat load of enclosure (scripted output, avoid manual activity).
    • Scripts/standard template to generate Panel BOM/BOQ for suppliers, including panel enclosure components and assemblies.
    • Creating templates/manage to handle and integrate inputs from other functions (Termination details, cable lists) through excel/scripts.
    • Workout templates to develop loop drawings (loop drawing layout, intermediate JB’s, cabling and termination, field instrument transmitters).
    • Able to manage detail engineering and integrating inputs from/with other departments through excel scripts, viz., like loop drawing, IO assignments, network connections, Cable lists, field terminations, Part list, BOM for procurement.
    • Project Database cleansing/purging/compression.
  • Perform cable design, read partner documents and update interface details in own drawings to generate accurate and optimized cable design
  • Prepare and update OMM document.
  • Deliver as per project schedule and implementation plan.

Other job needs -

  • Develop basic logics and mimic views as per P&ID and standard faceplates using Automation design tools
  • Installation of controller logics and participate in controller panel testing, FAT, etc.
  • Undertake occasional short-term travel to customer and supplier premises for technical discussions, design follow-up, testing, FAT, etc.
  • Perform Site Survey activities, mapping existing systems and compile design inputs.
  • Prepare de-commissioning and dismantling needs (manuals) for the system.
  • Manage EPLAN database.
  • Support customer response preparation, short missions to project site for preparation of red-mark drawings and its conversion/updating EPLAN documents, prepare As-built drawings.
  • Support standardization & design practice initiatives, New Product Introduction (NPI) needs, support to partner functions on EPLAN activities
  • Document technical data generated for the assigned activities, upload and manage documents on PLM assigned.

Nature of Products/Projects – Power plant control system (BTS or BTP) Partnership – This is a cross-functional role, needing good coordination with several process partners. Personal responsibilities –

  • Deliver trainings programs to internal and external customers.
  • Work on quality & productivity improvement and cost-out actions.
  • Perform interface engineering, Site Support.
  • Development of standards and design practice guides and use in project.
  • Collaborate with global teams on project execution activities.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation/Control from accredited college or university 8 to 14 years core experience on EPLAN and E3 tools working on control panel design comprising, PLCs, IO cards, NW switches, Server, etc., for Power, Oil & Gas, Large EPC needs. Should be aware of applicable standards and best practices in DCS design, including HW design, control cubicle design and cybersecurity solutions. Working knowledge of electrical devices, polarity distribution, load calculation, database management, electrical symbols, Interface management etc. Tools Expertise – proficient in EPLAN software, basic knowledge of International electrical standards. E3 software knowledge is an added advantage. Good understanding of PLM processes. Preferred industry experience – Power, Large EPC, Oil & Gas. Good command over written and spoken English is mandatory for global stakeholder and customer management.

Desirable

Working experience on Rockwell Automation based Control System is preferred, however similar experience on other reputed DCS systems is acceptable. Able to perform in a fast-paced project execution environment. Clearly communicate and listen. Guide and motivate fellow team members.
