Job Description

Your mission

Job Title: Lead Engineer – GB (Splicing)

The role:

  • Supporting the management team in achieving team targets and upskilling team to meet and exceed targets
  • Responsible for training new starts and ensuring the work is tracked and to standard required
  • Helping to upskill all levels of the team, including use of OTDR, promoting high performance teams and identifying training gaps
  • Acting as a Backhaul network expert, taking a lead role on the completion and troubleshooting of issues
  • Supporting the team with field based live network issues, including faults, repairing live network, building joints and resolving complex issues
  • Assisting with the preparation and planning of network outages and reparenting
  • Leading on auditing of site set ups, supporting the team to complete audits and ensure that sites are to permit and safety standards
  • Ensuring Fibre Allocation Sheets (FAS) are submitted accurately and timely, identifying any issues and ensuring records are up to date for future use
  • Ensuring deadlines are met, within budget and works up to standard
  • Ensure relevant Health & Safety standards are followed and achieved
  • Supporting the development of team resulting in streamlining processes as required on network

Your profile

The person:

  • Previous experience in a similar technical role
  • Significant relevant experience in the telecoms industry
  • In depth knowledge of OTDR and ILM testers
  • Extensive knowledge of Backhaul network and distribution
  • Ability to lead by example and train people to a company standard
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships and excellent communication skills across all levels
  • Excellent organisation, communication and leadership skills
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office, including MS Project
  • Experience of working with BT/Openreach and knowledge of Physical Infrastructure Access (PIA)
  • Ability to travel between NI and GB
  • Full valid driving licence
