Majesco is seeking a Release Engineer with experience in designing and implementing strategies for collaboration, code, infrastructure, source control, security, compliance, continuous integration, testing, delivery, monitoring, and feedback. Majesco has been identified in the ‘Visionary’ Quadrant as per Gartner’s report for L&A Product vendors in North America
The Release Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing product releases and deployments across customer and internal environments. This role ensures that builds are packaged, validated, and deployed in a repeatable, controlled, and auditable way, minimizing risk to production while enabling frequent, high‑quality releases for Majesco products.
You will work closely with Engineering, Cloud/Infra, Product Management, QA, and Customer Success/Support teams to manage release calendars, automate deployment pipelines, and drive continuous improvement in release efficiency, stability, and transparency.
Key Responsibilities
Release Planning & Coordination
- Own the end‑to‑end release calendar for assigned products/environments, including planning, cut‑off dates, and deployment windows.
- Coordinate with Engineering, QA, Product, and Support to confirm scope, dependencies, and readiness for each release.
- Conduct release readiness reviews (scope, risks, rollback, approvals) before deployment.
- Maintain clear release notes, deployment plans, and checklists for all releases.
Build, Packaging & Configuration
- Manage build and packaging of application components, services, and configuration artefacts from source control.
- Ensure correct versioning, tagging, and labelling of builds across environments.
- Maintain and apply environment‑specific configuration (properties, secrets, integration endpoints) following security and compliance guidelines.
- Validate that schema changes, configuration changes, and data migration steps are captured and rehearsed before production deployment.
Deployment Execution & Automation
- Execute deployments across DEV, QA, UAT, Pre‑Prod, and Production environments following approved runbooks and change procedures.
- Managing stakeholders and external interfaces, coordination and communication within the team and with customers
- Use and enhance CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions) for automated build and deployment.
- Implement and maintain deployment scripts, Helm charts, or infrastructure‑as‑code templates (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform/ARM where applicable).
- Perform pre‑deployment and post‑deployment checks, validating application health, jobs, and integrations.
- Ensure well‑defined rollback/backup procedures are in place and tested for critical releases.
Governance, Compliance & Change Management
- Adhere to change management and approval workflows (e.g., SNOW/Jira change tickets) for all production changes.
- Maintain accurate records of deployments, versions, and change requests for auditability.
- Enforce segregation of duties, access controls, and release gates as per Majesco policies and client requirements.
- Contribute to and maintain standard release & deployment documentation, templates, and checklists.
Monitoring, Issue Management & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor deployments in real time (logs, dashboards, alerts) in partnership with Infra/Support teams.
- Coordinate incident response for deployment‑related issues, including impact assessment, communication, and fix/rollback decision.
- Perform post‑release reviews (PIRs), capturing root causes and action items for failed or degraded releases.
- Identify and drive automation and process improvements to reduce deployment effort, cycle time, and defects.
- Provide environment and release status updates to stakeholders (internal and customer‑facing, as needed).
- Strive for continuous improvement and build continuous integration, continuous development, and constant deployment pipeline (CI/CD Pipeline), Selecting and deploying appropriate CI/CD tools
- Identifying and deploying cybersecurity measures by continuously performing vulnerability assessment and risk management
Required Skills & Experience
- Total Experience: 6 – 8 years (for mid‑level engineer) in Release Management, DevOps, Build & Deployment, or Application Operations roles.
- Strong hands‑on experience with at least one CI/CD tool Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or equivalent.
- Experience deploying enterprise web applications (preferably Java/.NET and/or microservices) across multiple environments.
- Working knowledge of:
- Source control: Git (branching, tagging, pull requests).
- Scripting: PowerShell, Bash, Python or similar for automation.
- Containers & Orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes/AKS/EKS (nice plus if already used in production).
- Databases: Basic understanding of DB deployments (scripts, schema changes, data migrations, rollbacks).
- Build DevOps solutions using relevant tools – Chef, Puppet & Ansible
- Working experience with a repository management software like Artifactory
- Build, Package and Release management experience
- Experience in developing scripts to automate builds and deployments
- Preparing/reviewing Release Note
- Ownership for making available Release Bundle as per set processes
- Exposure to Unix shell scripting, Unix commands, .bat scripting, working with VMs
- Should be able to write basic scripts to automate recurring tasks
- Should be able to debug the deployment issues on Unix environment, using Unix commands
- Should be able to install and configure platform software like Tomcat, JDK, Ant
- Strong communication and team working skills, Willing to work across time zones and with remote teams.
- Familiarity with ITIL change/release management processes and ticketing tools (Jira, ServiceNow/SNOW, etc.).
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for build, deployment, and environment issues
- Experience working in agile/scrum software development environments with frequent releases.
Nice‑to‑Have / Preferred
- Experience with Majesco or other insurance domain products/platforms
- Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure/AWS) and corresponding deployment patterns (PaaS services, load balancers, key vaults, message queues, etc.).
- Experience building and maintaining release dashboards/metrics (e.g., deployment frequency, lead time, change failure rate, MTTR).
- Knowledge of security and compliance considerations during deployments (certificates, secrets, access policies).
- Experience supporting customer‑specific deployments and upgrade projects in a SaaS or managed‑services setup.

Other Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering; Master’s degree a plus
- Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert certification – MS Azure (preferred)
