Job Description

The GE Vernova Hydro Service engineering team works on the mechanical components of hydroelectric turbines and generators for retrofit projects, from design, installation, and commissioning until the end of the warranty period. The service department wants to develop its market in Norway in the field of generator rehabilitation projects.
Under the responsibility of the manager of (FRO — Generator), the FRO engineer provides technical support to the customer, from the execution of the project to the post-warranty period, mainly on transactional projects, including maintenance and repairs, inspections and diagnostics of equipment, equipment inspections and diagnostics, spare parts potentially on simple modernization projects in accordance with the safety of people, costs, and respect of the quality requirement and schedule. He is responsible for coordinating with the product management, technology center, engineering centers of excellence, engineering, supply chain, construction and commissioning teams and for central project management, he ensures that the technical choice is made to ensure that the total cost and performance of the product are in line with customer requirements and the budget as sold.
The ultimate objective is to offer a better service to Hydro customers in order to ensure the satisfaction and growth of GEV in this specific service market and here particularly for the Norwegian market.

MAIN ACTIVITIES

Offer (ITO)

- Analyze the technical requirements for requesting a quote in collaboration with the project manager and the customer. He is the single point of contact for the external and internal customer

- Define the optimal technical proposal (quality, cost, deadline) in collaboration with the project manager and the client, he is the sole point of contact for the external and external customer

- Conduct technical visits on the existing equipment if necessary

- Define the optimal technical proposal (quality, cost, deadline) that meets the client's specifications,

- Discuss with internal and external subcontractors in order to validate the feasibility of the technical proposal & the industrial diagram

- Write the final technical proposal: technical instructions, plans

- Define the budget, planning,

- Have the offer validated in accordance with the applicable engineering processes

- Consolidate and submit the offer to the commercial manager of the offer within the offer submission deadline defined by the customer.

- Support the sales manager during negotiations with the customer: technical presentation of the offer, clarification phases

Project execution (OTR), Guarantee period (POC)

  • Be the “privileged technical contact” for the internal or external customer in the context of the projects awarded to him (mainly for Norwegian customers for the development of our activities in Norway)
  • Responsible for collecting all the information required for the tendering phase through a Structured offer delivery.
  • Coordinate technically and monitor the customer, internal functions or external partner
  • Design, design technical solutions that optimally meet the client's contractual specifications in compliance with:
    • Technical guides,
    • Engineering processes
    • Quality process,
    • Costs and deadlines sold
    • EHS rules
  • Responsible for providing work packages to engineering centers of excellence or external subcontractors when necessary:
    • of the technical scope
    • Budget
    • Planning
  • Launch call for tenders to subcontractors in accordance with supply chain processes
  • Ensure technical follow-up during the manufacturing and construction phases Conduct site
  • Inspections and audit existing equipment to define and offer customers maintenance and repair operations
  • Technically support site teams to answer questions, anticipate problems during work
  • Accept or reject the changes requested by customers, internal or external subcontractors in case of deviation from the requirements of the specifications, GEV technical guides.
  • Manage changes and issue change orders.
  • Propose recommendations for additional work during the dismantling and inspections of existing components
  • Examine and validate site records
  • Manage non-conformities and the resolution of general problems
  • Perform site missions during critical phases of the project
  • Technically support site activities, commissioning and testing, commissioning and testing, performance testing phases
  • Manage quality, costs and planning
  • Participate in project monitoring meetings.
  • Project Risk and Opportunity Manager.
  • Responsible for monitoring KPI engineering indicators (MM, OTR, NCR, SDR, ECR)
  • Build feedback of experience.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION

Electromechanical and/or mechanical engineering engineer with significant experience in a design office in the hydroelectric generator sector, in rotating machines or in equipment used in energy evacuation.

In addition, the function requires the following skills:

  • Preferred experience in the mechanical engineering of turbines or generators and assembly methods
  • Knowledge of calculation methods related to the strength of materials, to the simulation of finite elements, to the simulation of finite elements, to metallurgy and to welding processes is an added value.
  • Knowledge of CAD tools: 2D Autocad Mechanical, 3D NX
  • Significant experience in management in a global matrix environment
  • Strong communication and project management skills
  • Proactivity, creativity, emergency management, autonomy; ability to interact with functions.
  • Team spirit, positive and committed contributor to the team, willingness to learn and adapt to business needs.
  • Capacity to travel (short periods, low frequency)
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written). Fluency in Norwegian is a plus.
