  • Monitoring patient flow and department workflow to prevent bottlenecks

  • Adjusting staffing assignments in real time based on patient volume and acuity

  • Coordinating team coverage during call-outs and changing caseload demands

  • Conducting morning and evening team huddles to review caseloads, priorities, and operational updates

  • Communicating changes, updates, and expectations clearly throughout the shift

  • Completing scheduled emergency department acuity assessments

  • Maintaining and updating diversion tracking as needed

  • Supporting team members through coaching, mentorship, and real-time feedback

  • Identifying training opportunities and partnering with leadership to support professional development

  • Addressing client service, patient care, and team concerns promptly and professionally

  • Escalating significant concerns to hospital leadership when appropriate

  • Promoting a positive, respectful, and collaborative team culture

  • Monitoring supply and equipment needs and communicating shortages proactively

  • Sharing operational updates, concerns, and feedback with hospital leadership

  • Following through on outstanding issues to ensure resolution

What We're Looking For

  • Veterinary Technician experience in Emergency, Critical Care, Specialty, or high-volume General Practice settings

  • Previous leadership, charge technician, shift lead, or supervisory experience preferred

  • Strong understanding of emergency patient triage and workflow management

  • Ability to prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent communication, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills

  • Commitment to teamwork, accountability, and exceptional patient care

  • Ability to remain calm, organized, and decisive during high-pressure situations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Credentialed Veterinary Technician (LVT, RVT, or CVT) preferred

  • Emergency and Critical Care experience strongly preferred

  • Experience mentoring, training, or leading veterinary support staff
