Job Description Summary

As a Substation Design Engineer, your main responsibility is to design and layout high-voltage (HV) substations, ensuring their reliability, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Collaboration with other engineers and support for project documentation and continuous improvement initiatives are also key aspects of this role.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Designing and integrating essential components for a High Voltage substation or HVDC Substation in compliance with global and local standards.
  • Coordinating with multidisciplinary teams for efficient substation layout implementation, and design calculations
  • Developing comprehensive design specifications and supporting procurement activities.
  • Managing project strategies, risks, and customer relationships for successful project delivery.
  • Ensuring streamlined documentation management and facilitating effective design processes.
  • Collaborating with construction teams to incorporate valuable design insights for enhanced project outcomes.
  • Manage engineering subcontractors for specific work packages.
  • Support site teams to ensure smooth erection and capitalize lessons learnt.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Experience: Experience in the design of HV substations, HVDC Substation, including layout design and component selection. Experience with CAD software Autodesk CAD tools, Revit, BIM360, ACC and substation design tools is a plus.
  • Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of HV substation design principles, industry standards, and regulations. Familiarity with protection and control systems is advantageous.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in using design and simulation, calculation software. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Certifications: Professional engineering certification or licensure is preferred.
