The Lead Electrical Technician at Storm Smart is responsible for leading electrical installation, maintenance, and repair tasks on various projects while ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency. This role involves hands-on electrical work, supervising team members, and collaborating with other departments to deliver exceptional results that align with Storm Smart’s standards.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
- Lead and perform advanced electrical installations for motorized and automated hurricane protection systems.
- Serve as the technical expert on job sites, providing hands-on guidance and troubleshooting support to Electrical Technicians and Helpers.
- Review project scope, drawings, and electrical requirements prior to installation to ensure readiness and accuracy.
- Coordinate daily field activities, assign tasks, and support crew productivity and workmanship standards.
- Diagnose and resolve complex electrical and control system issues in the field.
- Ensure all electrical work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with NEC, local codes, and Storm Smart standards.
- Inspect completed electrical work to verify quality, functionality, and code compliance.
- Support training and development of electrical team members through coaching and on-the-job instruction.
- Communicate effectively with Field Supervisors, Operations, and Installation teams regarding progress, issues, and material needs.
- Maintain accurate job documentation, testing records, and completion of reports.
- Promote a strong culture of safety, professionalism, and accountability on all job sites.
- Assist with process improvements, tool standardization, and best practice development
You will be responsible for installing and repairing complex electrical control, wiring, and lighting systems working from a technical blueprint. To perform this role, you need an electrician degree from a technical college and experience in the field working on simple and complex electrical systems.

Required Skills/ Abilities:
- Advanced knowledge of residential and light commercial electrical systems, including motorized and automated products.
- Strong understanding of NEC, local electrical codes, and electrical safety standards.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex electrical, motor, and control system issues.
- Expert ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
- High level of proficiency with electrical hand tools, power tools, meters, and testing equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and support Electrical Technicians and Helpers.
- Strong problem-solving, job-site decision-making, and quality control skills.
- Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to provide clear technical direction.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage job-site priorities and documentation.
- Professional, dependable, safety-focused, and accountable team leader.

Qualifications

- Education/Experience/Licenses/Certifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Completion of an accredited electrical apprenticeship program or technical/trade school preferred.
- Journeyman Electrician license preferred; Master Electrician a plus.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
- 5+ years of hands-on electrical experience in residential and/or light commercial environments.
- Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in a lead role, mentoring, or acting as a senior technician.
- Demonstrated experience installing, troubleshooting, and inspecting electrical systems.
- Experience working with motorized systems, low-voltage controls, or automated products strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to coordinate crews and support job-site execution.
- Strong safety and quality track record.
- Valid Clean Driver's License
