
Lead Electrical Engineer (HV/ Traction Power)-269306
As Lead Electrical Engineer, you will provide technical leadership, governance and management across the project’s electrical engineering activities. You will help establish consistent design standards and processes, ensuring nominated scopes of work are technically compliant, coordinated and ready for certification. Working closely with project, design, systems assurance, procurement, construction and commissioning teams, you will lead electrical engineering solutions from initial concept through to completion and verification. You will act as a technical reference authority, mentor other engineers and represent UGL in technical discussions with clients, authorities, consultants and delivery partners. Candidates with extensive traction power design experience on major rail infrastructure projects are strongly encouraged to apply. Key responsibilitiesLead the development and delivery of electrical engineering solutions across HV, LV and relevant traction power design packages.Prepare and maintain design management plans, monitor progress and ensure design deliverables are completed within programme and budget.Establish a consistent approach to electrical design templates, technical interfaces, deliverables, reporting and programme management.Coordinate multidisciplinary design activities and ensure reviews, verification and validation are appropriately planned and completed.Ensure designs meet applicable safety, environmental, construction, commissioning and operational requirements.Review drawings, calculations and technical specifications for major electrical equipment, including switchboards and uninterruptible power supply systems.Provide technical support to procurement, construction and commissioning teams while managing consultants, interfaces and technical issues. About youA bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, engineering science or another relevant engineering discipline.Chartered Professional Engineer status.More than 10 years of relevant industry experience, ideally including experience within the rail sector.Strong technical knowledge of HV and LV electrical design and relevant Australian standards, including AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 3008 and AS/NZS 2067.Extensive traction power design experience on major rail infrastructure projects will be highly regarded.Demonstrated capability in design governance, multidisciplinary coordination, verification, technical risk and requirements management.Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to mentor engineers and build effective relationships across project, client and stakeholder groups.
