As a Lead Electrical Engineer – Buildings in Perth, you'll lead the delivery of electrical building services designs across a diverse portfolio of projects spanning defence, healthcare, data centres, resources and commercial developments. You'll work as part of our growing Buildings team, helping shape innovative, safe and sustainable solutions while supporting the development of emerging engineers.
Lead electrical building services design – deliver electrical engineering solutions across building projects from concept through to detailed design and construction support, including power distribution, lighting, backup power, communications, security and associated building systems.
Drive technical excellence – undertake engineering calculations, design reviews and technical assessments to ensure designs are safe, compliant and fit for purpose.
Collaborate across disciplines – work closely with architects, structural, civil, mechanical, ICT, hydraulics, fire and sustainability specialists to develop integrated building solutions.
Manage project delivery – contribute to project planning, resource allocation and design budget management, ensuring quality outcomes are delivered efficiently and in line with client expectations.
Support clients and stakeholders – engage with project managers, contractors, subcontractors, clients and external stakeholders to resolve challenges, communicate design intent and support project delivery.
Mentor and develop others – provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers, designers and drafters while helping build capability across the team.
Contribute to future opportunities – support proposals, bids and client engagement activities, helping position Aurecon for continued growth across defence, data centres and other strategic markets.
You are a collaborative and technically capable engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, building relationships and delivering high-quality outcomes. You will also have:
A bachelor's degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or a related discipline.
Approximately 6+ years' experience delivering electrical building services design projects within a consulting, engineering or design environment.
Demonstrated experience across complex building projects such as defence, healthcare, data centres, commercial developments, resources non-process infrastructure or similar sectors.
Strong technical capability across low-voltage power distribution, essential and non-essential systems, backup generation, UPS systems, earthing, protection and coordination, and compliance-based design.
Experience in lighting design, including emergency and egress lighting, and coordination of electrical services within complex building environments.
Sound knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, the National Construction Code (NCC) and electrical design requirements, including AS/NZS 3000 and related standards.
Experience producing and reviewing technical documentation, engineering calculations, reports and design deliverables.
Proficiency with industry software such as Revit, AutoCAD, PowerCAD, AGi32, DIALux, SKM, ETAP or similar design tools.
Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
Chartered status with Engineers Australia, or progress towards Chartership, is highly regarded.
Australian citizenship or the ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Baseline Security Clearance is highly regarded due to the nature of defence-related projects.
