Job Description

The Aeroderivative Packaging Design Liaison Engineer (DLE) position in the Aeroderivative Systems & Design Engineering organization is responsible for providing focused support to our global supply chain partners. We work with an unwavering sense of urgency, quality, and innovation. Our team serves as the bridge between supply chain (including suppliers and manufacturing) and design engineering groups – we maintain high technical rigor to ensure the quality of the product is not compromised as we support our supply chain and customers.

The selected candidate will drive customer fulfillment excellence, by supporting suppliers and manufacturing to meet the engineering specifications called out in our drawings, and also provide timely resolutions to non-conformance requests, while working with a global technology team of packaging system owners to provide resolution on issues that require complex manufacturing & technical support.

Roles and Responsibilities

In this role, the individual shall provide focused, streamlined, and consistent support onsite at a manufacturing facility. The Design Liaison Engineer supports the implementation of new designs in supplier and manufacturing processes, disposition of Nonconformance Reports and Supplier Deviation Requests, supports manufacturing quality improvement initiatives, trends defects and recommends resolution for recurring issues.

In addition, the selected candidate is expected to:

  • Deliver high-quality solutions to disposition manufacturing nonconformances and provide corrective actions to resolve the issues.

  • Leverage design documentation to support dispositions of hardware deviations, material substitutions and drawing revisions to support improved manufacturability.

  • Ensure design specifications are adequate to instruct the qualification and manufacturing of critical components to design intent.

  • Guide suppliers on the introduction of new or revised designs including qualification validation activities.

  • Provide timely responses to supplier deviation requests.

  • Implement drawing modifications/update to address non-conformances.

  • Evaluate and mitigate component, assembly, and/or system level manufacturing risks.

  • Conceive innovative ideas to improve packaging manufacturing and prevent design problems.

  • Provide input to design practice owners on manufacturing topics relating to their document.

  • Maintain strong relationships with supply chain teams. Keep abreast of new technologies, products, and emerging fleet services issues.

  • Collaborate with cross functional teams including Global Supply Chain, Quality, Steam Turbine Engineering, Material, Product Definition etc.

Required Qualifications

  • This role requires advanced experience in Electrical Engineering. Knowledge level is comparable to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.

  • This role also requires prior experience in guiding suppliers, assembly shop and field representatives in the application of Aeroderivative Package designs to meet customer requirements.
