Job Description

The Lead EHS Specialist will be responsible for promoting and strengthening the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) culture across Brazil, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, corporate standards, and GE Vernova Life Saving Rules. The role supports all project phases, including operations, contractor management, audits, training, incident investigations, and EHS management system deployment, contributing to accident prevention, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Support operational teams throughout all project phases, ensuring compliance with EHS requirements, risk assessments, and corporate and legal safety procedures;

  • Implement, monitor, and continuously improve the GE Vernova EHS Management System, ensuring adherence to corporate standards and ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications;

  • Conduct audits, field inspections, Genba Walks, incident investigations, and follow-up on preventive and corrective action plans;

  • Manage contractor safety requirements, pre-mobilization processes, risk assessments, mandatory training, and documentation compliance;

  • Deliver EHS training programs, monitor key performance indicators, and provide regular reports to leadership while promoting best practices and a strong safety culture.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related technical field;

  • Solid experience in Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS), preferably within the energy sector, including generation, transmission, distribution, or O&M activities;

  • Strong knowledge of occupational safety regulations, incident investigation methodologies, risk assessments, EHS management systems, and ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards;

  • Experience in Electrical Safety, Energy Isolation requirements, contractor management, and implementation of field risk control measures;

  • Fluent English and availability to travel across Latin America; Spanish proficiency will be considered a plus.
