What you'll be doing | Te whakamahere

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Lead Educator – Curriculum & Culture to join our Learning Team.

Working in close partnership with the Lead Educator Mātauranga Māori, you will co-lead the Learning Team to design and deliver meaningful, engaging educational experiences aligned with the Aotearoa New Zealand Curriculum, Te Whāriki, and Te Marautanga o Aotearoa, while reflecting the national significance of Waitangi.

Co-Leadership & Management

• Lead, support, and develop team members, including performance management and professional growth
• Contribute to organisational leadership through planning, reporting, and participation in management hui

Curriculum & Programme Development

• Co-design and deliver curriculum-linked education programmes
• Ensure alignment with national curriculum requirements and teaching standards
• Develop innovative learning experiences drawing on the stories and environments of Waitangi
• Support the integration of Mātauranga Māori in partnership with your co-lead

Customer & Community Engagement

• Ensure high-quality delivery of education programmes
• Build and maintain strong relationships with schools, educators, and community groups
• Respond to feedback and support ongoing improvement of programmes

Health, Safety & Wellbeing

• Promote a safe and inclusive environment for staff and participants
• Ensure adherence to organisational policies and Child Protection responsibilities

What you'll need to be successful | Ō Pūkenga

• Be a collaborative leader who values partnership and brings a strong commitment to Te Tiriti and community-based learning.
• A recognised teaching qualification (education management experience preferred)
• 5–10 years’ frontline teaching or education experience
• Proven leadership and people management skills
• Strong communication and relationship-building capability

It would be an advantage if you also have:

• Ability to embed Mātauranga Māori concepts into learning programmes.
• Understanding of Te Reo Māori me ngā tikanga
