Let’s Talk about the Role

As a Lead Documentation Engineer, you will lead the development, control, and continuous improvement of technical documentation supporting Commissioning and Services activities for Haliade-X and Haliade-150 projects. You will ensure documentation is accurate, compliant, and ready for field execution while collaborating with Engineering, EHS, Field Operations, Technical Support, Factory, and Project teams. This role requires strong leadership, ownership, and the ability to manage documentation priorities to support the safe and successful delivery of projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the documentation engineers assign to the project, aligning priorities, resources, and workflows to ensure high-quality and on-time delivery while serving as the primary point of contact for documentation activities.
  • Define and drive the documentation strategy for key deliverables, including MFI (Maintenance Field Instructions), RAMS (Risk Assessment Method Statements), lifting plans, technical procedures, work instructions, and digital checklists, ensuring readiness for field execution across assigned projects.
  • Lead the creation, review, release, and control of technical documentation for commissioning and service activities, ensuring accuracy, quality, compliance, and alignment with applicable standards, customer requirements, and internal processes.
  • Monitor project documentation status, business-critical issues, operational changes, priorities, and risks, ensuring timely communication, escalation, and resolution with relevant stakeholders.
  • Key contact across Engineering, EHS, Field Operations, Technical Support, Factory, and Project Leadership to drive alignment, prioritize deliverables, and ensure effective communication across projects.
  • Manage documentation planning, reviews, approvals, revisions, distribution, configuration control, and traceability for both customer and internal documentation.
  • Ensure EHS policies and requirements are integrated within documentation activities, identifying and communicating risks, promoting safe work practices, and supporting improvements to prevent incidents and accidents.
  • Follow and support the Commissioning and Services Strategy to enable safe, efficient, and on-time project execution.
  • Provide technical documentation support to field operations, both remotely and on-site, ensuring documentation reflects operational needs and supports safe and efficient execution.
  • Promote process standardization, operational consistency, and best practices across projects, regions, and operational teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to documentation processes, digital tools, workflow automation, and data quality, including support for EDMS (Electronic Document Manager System), TrueContext, ProntoForms, and other documentation platforms.
  • Support training and knowledge transfer for field technicians and stakeholders by explaining documentation requirements, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Strong culture of quality, compliance, safety, accountability, and continuous improvement within the documentation organization.
  • Ability to work on Monday-to-Friday, with occasional weekend and public holiday on-call duties as required.

What you’ll bring (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electromechanical, Industrial or Mechanical) with proven experience in technical documentation, commissioning, service, or engineering support within wind, offshore, power generation or similar industries.
  • Strong ability to work independently in a structured and proactive way, managing multiple priorities in dynamic environments while ensuring quality, compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) with the ability to produce clear, high-quality and structured technical documentation.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience translating operational and field requirements into practical documentation and presenting clear status updates, risks, and priorities.
  • Fluency in English and French, with willingness to work in multinational environments and travel up to 20% to support field operations.

What will make you stand out

  • Knowledge of wind turbine systems and service/commissioning activities, including key components such as hydraulic systems, yaw systems, cooling circuits and generators.
  • Experience with engineering and digital tools (e.g., NX, SolidWorks, JT2GO, ServiceMax or similar) and familiarity with EHS standards, RAMS and field execution processes.
  • Continuous improvement mindset, strong teamwork in multicultural environments; Portuguese and Spanish are a plus.
