The Lead Documentation Engineer is responsible for leading the development, control, and continuous improvement of technical documentation supporting Commissioning and Services activities for Haliade-X and Haliade-150 projects. This role ensures critical documentation is accurate, compliant, field-ready, and aligned with project, engineering, and EHS requirements.
The position serves as a key interface across Engineering, EHS, Electrical Safety, Field Operations, Technical Support, Factory, and Project teams, supporting alignment on documentation priorities and operational execution. The role requires leadership, autonomy, and the ability to make independent decisions within the assigned scope, while taking full ownership of documentation quality, priorities, and delivery. The Lead Documentation Engineer is also expected to influence stakeholders and ensure documentation is timely, compliant, and ready for field execution.
Essential Responsibilities
- Lead independently and autonomously the creation, review, release, and control of technical documentation for commissioning and service activities, ensuring accuracy, quality, and alignment with applicable standards and internal processes.
- Own the documentation strategy and coordination for key deliverables such as MFI (Maintenance Field Instruction), RAMS (Risk Assessment Method Statement), lifting plans, technical procedures & instruction, and digital checklists, ensuring readiness for field execution for assigned scope.
- Serve as a key contact across Engineering, EHS, Field teams, Technical Support, Factory, and Project Leadership to gather inputs, drive alignment, and ensure effective communication across assigned projects and documentation needs.
- Provide technical documentation support to field operations, both remotely and on site, to ensure documentation reflects operational reality and supports safe, efficient execution.
- Follow the Commissioning and Services Strategy to support optimal, on-time work execution.
- Manage assigned documentation tasks including planning, reviews, approvals, revisions, distribution, and traceability of customer and internal documentation within assigned responsibility.
- Monitor and be point of contact for project documentation, status business-critical issues, and operational changes, communicating issues, priorities, and risks to relevant stakeholders and escalating as appropriate.
- Support continuous improvement in documentation processes, digital tools, and data quality, including support for TrueContext / ProntoForms, forms, and issue resolution related to documentation workflows, with focus on process consistency and operational support.
- Support training for field technicians by explaining tasks, instructions, and documentation requirements remotely or on site.
- Ensure EHS policy and requirements are implemented within the documentation area, identify and communicate risks, promote safe work practices, and support improvements to prevent incidents and accidents.
- Promote process standardization, operational consistency, and best practices across projects, regions, and operational teams.
- Ability to work on Monday-to-Friday, with occasional weekend and public holiday on-call duties as required.

Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electrical, Electromechanical, Industrial, Mechanical or equivalent technical experience.
- Significant experience in technical documentation, commissioning, service, or engineering support, preferably within wind, offshore, power generation, or other industrial environments.
- Experience developing and managing technical documentation such as procedures, work instructions, risk assessments, and field documentation.
- Excellent Microsoft Office Skills (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Knowledge of wind turbine systems and operations, including synchronous generators, yaw systems, cooling circuits, hydraulic systems, and variable frequency drives.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to prepare and present documentation status, priorities, risks, and progress updates to project and business stakeholders, manage multiple projects independently.
- Experience supporting field operations and translating operational needs into practical documentation.
- Ability to use 3D software such as NX, SolidWorks, and JT2GO is preferred.
- Familiarity with digital documentation and workflow tools such as TrueContext, ProntoForms, ServiceMax, Smartsheet, or similar platforms is preferred.
- English proficiency required, Spanish, French and Portuguese are a plus.
