Lead Direct Support Professional (DSP)
SequelCare of Maine, established in 2010, helps children, teens, adults and families with their behavioral and home health needs. We have offices in Yarmouth, Bangor and Searsport and serve clients throughout the state. We are part of a national organization, Sequel Youth and Family Services, and are growing agency dedicated to the professional development of our programs and staff. Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) work with adult clients, their families and other service providers to promote independence. The right person will enjoy working as part of a team, working collaboratively with the family and supervisor to meet the individualized client's needs.
Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Provide components of In-House Orientation and on the job training of new DSP’s.
• Provide assistance with daily, weekly and monthly routines of all operations (including MARS, documentation, fire drills, etc.)
• Review PANDA documentation to ensure daily notes are being completed, notify supervisor of gaps. Verify PANDA notes match to payroll hours.
• Effectively manage several methods of intra-program communications (e.g, log books, client binders, etc.).
• Assist with the overseeing of ordering (using checklist at all locations), inventory control, and the safe dispensation of medications.
• Review pass down checklists to ensure they are completed, to include audits of the money, EBT cards and gift cards kept at the home on each day worked.
• Conduct safety inspections monthly.
• Review daily documentation and follow up when needed.
• Mentor all new DSPs to ensure the SCM’s philosophy is adhered to and people are being supported to live as independently as possible.
• Support, assist, and encourage members in all areas of daily living including, but not limited to: personal care, feeding, socialization, recreation and leisure activities.
• Ensure medication distribution following successful completion of Medication course (CRMA).
• Support client during periods of crisis by consulting with Program Manager and DRS when needed, referring to crisis intervention services and/or 911 when necessary, and completing agency incident report as indicated.
• Transport members in approved vehicles as activities require.
Requirements:
• Education: High School diploma or GED
• Certification: Must obtain or have an existing DSP Provisional Certificate (Company paid training) as well as your CRMA
• Experience: One year of experience with adults in a supervised setting or relevant life experience.
• Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
