The Position
We are seeking an experienced Automation Architect / DevOps Lead to own and modernize our build, release, and deployment processes for a mature .NET desktop application ecosystem. This role will lead a small team (3–5 engineers) to eliminate manual, fragmented build workflows and establish a scalable, reliable automation framework.
Following the successful automation of the current product stack, this role will play a key strategic role in evolving the product toward a cloud-native SaaS architecture over the next 18–24 months.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and guide ateam of 3–5 automation/DevOps engineers
Define best practices, standards, and documentation for build and deploymentautomation
Act as the technical authority for automation architecture and DevOps strategy
Collaborate closely with development, QA, and product teams
Lead the design, implementation, and optimization ofend-to-end build, packaging, and deployment automationfor a .NET desktop application and installer
Analyze existingmanual and disjointed build processesand drive consolidation and standardization
Automate application builds, installers, database components, and environment setup
Own CI/CD pipelines using tools such asJenkins, Ansible, and related technologies
Evaluate current tooling and recommend improvements or replacements where appropriate
Establish repeatable, auditable, and reliable release processes
Ensure platform security and compliance aligned with PCI DSS controls, working tightly with Corporate Compliance and Security teams.
Act as a peer-level partner with: Engineering Manager — enabling efficient product development through scalable delivery tooling and continuous deployment practices
providing DevOps inputs to program planning, release engineering schedules, and production readiness
Support and influence thetransition from a desktop-based product to a cloud-native SaaS model
Help define future-state architecture aligned with modern DevOps and cloud principles
Introduce infrastructure automation and cloud-ready deployment patterns as the platform evolves
Required Skills & Experience
Strong experience with CI/CD pipeline design and implementation
Hands-on expertise with Jenkins, Ansible, and automation scripting
Infrastructure-as-Code experience (Terraform, ARM, CloudFormation, etc.)
Solid experience with .NET applications, including build and packaging processes
Experience automating desktop application installers
Working knowledge of database-driven applications (experience with UniVerse or similar is a plus)
Strong scripting skills (PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar)
Proven track record of reducing manual build and release effort through automation
Experience integrating source control, build systems, testing, and deployment pipelines
Strong understanding of release management and environment consistency
Familiarity with modern DevOps practices and tooling ecosystems
Experience leading or mentoring small technical teams
Ability to drive change in established engineering environments
Strong communication skills to work across engineering and business stakeholders
Comfortable owning large, multi-phase technical initiatives
