Team Overview:
The Contracts department oversees the delivery and execution of projects from initial mobilisation through to completion and handover. Acting as the bridge between design, commercial, and on-site teams, the department ensures that all contractual obligations are met while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. With a focus on planning, resource coordination, and problem-solving, the Contracts team plays a key role in ensuring our projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to the satisfaction of our clients.
The Lead Development Manager – Data Centres will play a pivotal role in driving business development, strengthening cross‑functional teams, and enabling the continued rollout of our OSM product range into the UK and European data centre markets. The successful candidate will help shape market strategy, develop key client relationships, and position Alternative Heat as a preferred partner for large‑scale, offsite‑engineered data centre solutions.
Proven capability in delivering winning, multi-million-pound product or complex services opportunities. Ideally has a background in commercial M&E and experience of bid campaign management from opportunity identification through to project delivery, and will provide valuable input into opportunity qualification, win strategies, commercial discussions, and solution design.
Will be fully conversant with the competitive marketplace. Sound commercial understanding, P&L and risk management skills. Can manage complex, multi-workstream opportunities and experience in managing a team. Solid understanding and implementation of internal governance procedures.

What You'll be Doing
This role is focused on driving business growth and project acquisition within the European Data Centre market. Responsibilities include building and maintaining strong client relationships to understand future requirements, developing and leading a regional Business Development team, and identifying opportunities for commercial expansion. The position requires monitoring legislative and industry changes that may impact data centre cooling solutions, collaborating with internal stakeholders to assess bid opportunities, and overseeing the preparation of technical proposals through estimating and pre-construction teams. The role also involves coordinating with design, BIM, estimating, and document control functions, managing bid handovers for secured projects, fostering relationships with external consultants and stakeholders, supporting the development of off-site manufacturing (OSM) solutions, and providing regular reports on upcoming projects and business opportunities.
