All about the role:

We are looking for an experienced Lead Developer to join our backend engineering team in Bangalore.

This is a hands-on development role with technical leadership responsibilities. You will work on a modern, high-volume payments platform supporting sales of sustainable consumer products in Europe and North America. The role is ideal for someone with strong backend engineering experience, solid payments domain knowledge and a desire to take ownership of business-critical systems in production.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead development of payment-related backend services.

  • Work hands-on with Kotlin, Ktor, asynchronous/reactive programming, MongoDB and PostgreSQL.

  • Work with Adyen integrations, including APIs, webhooks, stored payment methods and payment lifecycle events.

  • Work with a wide range of services to support payments such as integrated POS devices & subscription services.

  • Help ensure payment services are reliable, scalable, observable and maintainable.

  • Guide and mentor other developers through design discussions, code reviews and technical decision-making.

Who Are you:

  • Around 10 years of software development experience.

  • At least 5 years of experience in payments, ecommerce, fintech or transaction-heavy backend systems.

  • Strong hands-on experience with Kotlin.

  • Experience with Ktor, Kotlin coroutines, Project Reactor, Spring WebFlux or similar asynchronous/reactive technologies.

  • Previous experience integrating with Adyen or similar payment providers.

  • Strong experience with MongoDB and PostgreSQL.

  • Experience building and supporting production backend systems.

  • Good communication skills and the ability to guide other developers.

Desirable:

  • Experience with Adyen POS / terminal integrations.

  • Experience with omnichannel or subscription payment flows.

  • Experience with Kafka or event-driven systems.

  • Experience with Kubernetes or cloud-native environments.

  • Familiarity with observability tools such as Datadog, OpenTelemetry, OpenSearch or similar.

  • Experience with PCI-aware development, fraud handling, chargebacks or payment security.
