Lead Design Engineer - Traction Power

As a Lead Design Engineer specializing in Traction Power, you will play a pivotal role in designing and developing traction power systems for various transportation projects.

In this role, you will lead a team of engineers, collaborate with cross-functional departments, and apply your expertise to ensure the efficient and safe design, construction, and operation of traction power systems.

Hybrid - Must be willing to travel internationally, including flights, hotel, and expenses paid.

Day rate - Outside IR35 depending on experience.

Contract - 2 years

Key Responsibilities

• Design and Development:
• Lead the design and development of traction power systems for transportation projects, adhering to industry standards and safety regulations.
• Create conceptual and detailed designs, considering factors such as power distribution, voltage levels, substations, overhead catenary systems, and related components.
• Technical Leadership
• Provide technical expertise in traction power engineering, guiding the team in solving complex design challenges and optimizing system performance.
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, such as civil, mechanical, and electrical, to ensure seamless integration of traction power systems within larger projects.
• Team Management:
• Lead a team of traction power engineers, assigning tasks, setting goals, and providing mentorship to foster professional growth.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and support skill development within the team.
• Project Coordination:
• Collaborate with project managers to define project scopes, timelines, and budgets related to traction power design activities.

• Regulatory Compliance
• Stay up-to-date with relevant industry codes, standards, and regulations governing traction power systems.
• Ensure designs are compliant with safety guidelines and environmental requirements.
• Documentation and Reporting:
• Prepare and review technical documents, specifications, and drawings related to traction power system designs.
• Present design concepts and progress updates to both internal teams and external stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
