Lead Design Engineer – R&D
OUR ROLE
We are seeking a talented Lead Design Engineer to join Fiskars R&D team. In this role, you will lead and oversee projects for Fiskars range of products, from concept to production with a talented team of engineers and designers, ensuring they are on time, within budget, and embody the quality our brands are known for.

This position is based either in Espoo or Billnäs factory, Finland and reports to our Senior Manager, R&D. The role is full-time and is hybrid.
WHAT YOU’LL DO AT FISKARS
Responsibilities:
Lead the design and engineering project resources to maximize the group's potential and deliver innovative solutions to consumer needs.
Use conceptual design and 3D CAD modelling to create products that meet project objectives within performance and cost constraints.
Perform design validation testing of prototypes and off-tool samples, making necessary design modifications to ensure compliance with technical specifications and performance requirements.
Develop documentation to define product performance requirements and acceptance criteria to ensure product quality.
Support business and sales teams with proof-of-concept and production-quality prototypes for customer presentations.
Collaborate with the supply chain to identify cost reduction opportunities and refine designs as needed.
Participate in marketing research activities, translating field research and focus group observations into concept sketches and drawings, and analyzing competing products and technologies.
Drive sustainability in product development by incorporating material selection, durability targets, and design optimization to support circularity and reduce environmental impact.
WHO YOU ARE
Experience:
MSc/BSc degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, or a related field.
8+ years of experience in product development. Previous experience in consumer product design is beneficial.
Strong engineering background.
Experience in project management is a plus.
Proficiency in 3D CAD/solid modelling packages and Microsoft Office Suite.
Effective communication and cross-collaboration skills.
Strong business acumen and problem-solving skills.
