We are seeking a Lead Data Engineer with extensive experience delivering enterprise-scale data engineering solutions and a passion for innovation, quality and continuous improvement. In this role, you will provide technical leadership across data platforms, designing and delivering robust data provisioning, warehousing and integration solutions that enable data-driven decision making across the business.

As a trusted technical leader, you will take ownership of complex data engineering initiatives, ensuring best practice approaches are applied across architecture, data modelling, platform optimisation, data quality and governance.

Key responsibilities include leading the design and implementation of data pipelines and ETL/ELT frameworks, maintaining and optimising cloud-based data platforms, implementing data security controls, and enabling the re-use of enterprise data assets. You will also collaborate closely with Data Scientists and AI Engineers to operationalise advanced analytics and machine learning solutions.

A strong background in modern data engineering practices is essential. Experience with Azure pipelines, Microsoft Fabric ( or similar data lake environments) and SQL Server is required, while exposure to Python, data governance and master data management will be highly regarded. Experience working with structured and unstructured data, geospatial datasets and IoT data is advantageous.

Beyond technical expertise, you will mentor and coach others, champion best practices, identify opportunities for improvement, and contribute to building data capability across the organisation.
