Job Description

Domino’s Pizza, which began in 1960 as a single store location in Ypsilanti, MI, has had a lot to celebrate lately: we’re a reshaped, reenergized brand of honesty, transparency and accountability – not to mention, great food! In the rise to becoming a true technology leader, the brand is now consistently one of the top five companies in online transactions and 85% of our sales in the U.S. are taken through digital channels. The brand continues to ‘deliver the dream’ to local business owners, 90% of which started as delivery drivers and pizza makers in our stores. That’s just the tip of the iceberg…or as we might say, one “slice” of the pie! If this sounds like a brand you’d like to be a part of, consider joining our team!

We are seeking a Senior Semantic Layer Data Architect to lead the design, implementation, and evolution of a centralized semantic layer on Databricks. This role enables governed, scalable, and reusable data products across the enterprise while ensuring metric consistency, trust, and business alignment.

This position sits at the intersection of data architecture, analytics engineering, and governance, partnering closely with stakeholders across the enterprise.

General Responsibilities

  • Own and evolve the enterprise semantic layer strategy, including modeling standards, metric design, and governance patterns.
  • Define and maintain conformed dimensions, canonical entities, standardized KPIs, and curated analytic views.
  • Design and operate a trusted enterprise metrics layer to eliminate metric drift across Power BI dashboards and teams.
  • Partner with Marketing, Supply Chain, Operations, and Finance stakeholders to define KPI logic, grains, hierarchies, and calculation rules.
  • Establish governance processes for metric versioning, change management, and impact analysis.
  • Leverage Databricks Unity Catalog to enforce access controls, classification, lineage, and auditability for semantic assets.
  • Enable consistent analytics consumption through star schemas, aggregated views, and certified datasets.
  • Provide semantic leadership for enterprise domains, applying CPG/QSR/Retail industry context.
  • Create enterprise semantic modeling standards, templates, playbooks, and enablement materials.
  • Guide and review domain semantic implementations to ensure alignment with central standards and best practices.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in data architecture, analytics engineering, BI architecture, or related roles.
  • Proven experience designing and operating an enterprise semantic layer or governed metrics framework.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with Databricks (Delta Lake, Databricks SQL).
  • Deep expertise in dimensional modeling, including fact/dimension design, conformed dimensions, and grain management.
  • Advanced SQL skills and strong understanding of analytical query patterns.
  • Experience enabling enterprise analytics through Power BI.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with technical and business audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Databricks Unity Catalog for governance and semantic asset management.
  • Background in CPG, QSR, or Retail domains, particularly Finance, Marketing or Supply Chain analytics.
  • Experience operating within a centralized data platform or semantic layer center of excellence.
  • Familiarity with data product operating models, data quality frameworks, and observability.
